I really like Laken but I don't like Violet as a mn or fn.

Violet would be the mn after my grandmother. If it is a family name, does that change your mind, or do you still dislike it? If so...what mn's do you like with Laken? Thanks!

I voted for like your other choices better. Laken's just nms. But if everybody named their kids what I think they should, there would be millions of Elizabeths running around. ;-)

I think Caroline Violet was my favorite you were considering, if I remember right.

I really like the name. I think it's beautiful and goes well with Weston. They both have -n endings which may bug some people but I think it's a nice way of making them sound similar without being too matchy (like Weston and Ashton or something).

I think the mn Violet goes perfectly. It is a classic and feminine sounding name IMO. It's a good balance for Laken which is beautiful but I've never heard it before.

The name Laken Violet has a nice natural breezy feel to it IMO.

I think Laken Violet sounds quite nice. I went to college with a Laken (I'm in my mid-30s) and she was stunning, so I do have a positive association with the name. And I love that Violet is a family name for you as well. Good choice...and good luck! When are you due?

Thanks for the response! I am really loving Laken right now. I am actually on my first cycle of TTC #2. It happened on the first try with my DS Weston, so I am hopeing for the same now. I just like thinking about what I will name him or her, and since I had Weston's name picked out from day 1, I am little nervous that this one won't ever have a name! I am not getting very much postive feedback on this one, but thats ok, I wanted honesty since it is not set in stone that we will use it, I am still trying to get my DH to like it!

Sorry, but this is nms at all. Laken doesn't even sound like a name to me.

Weston is a great name as well. Do you call him Wes or West as a nn, or just Weston? All very handsome!

As far as not getting positive feedback on some names: really, it's your decision, your taste, your style that is most important! You'll know when you've found THE name. And I always wonder about the people who post rude and insulting comments. I can understand a name not being one's style, but I don't understand the need to tear someone down. If these people are that rude and cruel, you probably wouldn't like them in the real world, so I don't think you should care about their opinions on a name!

I just thought of another name you might like: Laurel Violet. I met the cutest little girl named Laurel the other day and just loved her name.

Good luck with TTC! Check on www.webmd.com - they have an Ovulation Calculator that worked for many, many of my friends!

Thanks, we don't really call Weston Wes or West a whole lot, but sometimes it does come out like West just to shorten it. He has a lot of pet nn's though :) I understand your comment about some being rude, I just try and take it in stride, my moto is "if everyone liked the same names, everyone would be named Ann and Mike". I like getting all the opinions though, because sometimes it does give me something to think about. My style of naming is all over the place anyway, I like some classic, some trendy, some unisex, it just depends on what stands out for me. Good luck with your naming journey. Thanks again!

I LOVE the name Laken. I am not over the moon about Violet, but since it's a family name I think its a great idea to use it and it sounds ok since it will be paired with a more up to date name like Laken:) Good Luck!!
