I want to first off say thanks for the votes. My dh and I really LOVE August, and we think it goes perfectly with Weston. My sister however does not like this name, and she in positive people will call him Auggie. What do you all think? Am I setting up my future son for teasing? Do you think he will have awful nn's? Thanks an advance for all the advice!
Michelle
Thanks Annie, that is very reassuring. I didn't get very much feedback on this name from others, when I mentioned it in other posts. That is why I am so interested in seeing what others think. Everyday for the last few days I have asked dh, do you really like August as a fn? And he always says yes, which I am so happy about, because I really like it too, but I don't want him to be teased. Thanks again for the positive feedback, and like you I think Gus as a nn is kinda cute!
Michelle
I don't see the teasing potential of Auggie anyway, but I'd think most would naturally shorten August to simply Gus (assuming a nn is desired at all).
I liked a few of the mns listed, but voted for Nathaniel because, besides the fact that I really love it (LOL), I think a longer mn stands up nicely next to such an "august" fn, if you KWIM. ;)

August was on our shotr list for this last baby. DH was very close with an August who was in his 80s who went by Auggie and that was the nn he wanted to use (I don't see it as tease-worthy myself), I prefer Gus though. Didn't matter as it turned out to be a she.
I like most of your mn choices, Nathanial, James and Michael most of all as they are pretty traditional next to not so traditional August. The only one I don't like is Grey as it almost sounds like it is decribing a grey August day or something.
I don't know if you saw, but the choice for my (4th) boy is Lachlan August. August was DH's father's mn as well, and at first DH did not want to use August, but I talked him into it since I've always loved it.

My Great Grandfather's name was Gus, so it would be after him. He passed away when I was 13. My dh and I orginally had August in the mn slot, since we wanted a family name for the mn, but we both fell in love with it, and now we think we want to use it as fn. Great choice BTW with #4 I LOVE his whole name! Good luck to you, and thanks for the response!

Thanks! I'd absolutely use August as a fn too, but in my case, I think Lachlan sounds better with Griffin, Talon, and Orion.
I'll be interested to hear what you choose for the mn, to go with August. You've got a lot of good choices. Good luck to you as well :)

I just read a great article that cautioned giving kids "meaningless filler middle names."
James and Michael sound like such names.
It was suggested parents choose special middle names, with as much thought put into them as first names.
Either pick it based on its meaning, or pick a special family name, or even a place name that has special meaning to your marriage.
The more unique and the more of a "story" to go with it, the more the child will appreciate it.
