Thanks for the advice, I really do appreciate it, after all I am here to get honest opinions :) James and Michael both however are family names, but since August is too, I am leaning more toward some of my other choices. James is my grandfathers mn, and Michael would be after me (Michelle), and I am named after my other grandfather who is Michael. Grey I just LOVE, and Liam is my dh's fav. name (for years), Nathaniel would be after my dh whose name is Nathan (NOT NATHANIEL), which is the reason he hasn't agreed to it yet, because he says "its not really my name." even though his whole name is there! I do agree though that James and Michael seem plain and common next to a name that I think is a gem (August), so that is why I am trying to find others. Thanks again, and sorry for the LONG explanation.

I'd never call him Auggie, but I would almost certainly call him Gus. August is getting so popular for boys these days, and quite frankly, I don't really understand why. I've only ever heard it used as a girl's name (Garth Brooks's daughter for one, plus several others I know). So I was confused when I first heard it used on a boy. I'm still not really crazy about it, but I love the nickname Gus so much that I'm willing to ignore any negative feelings I have toward August just because I can think about kissing fat little baby cheeks and calling him Gus.

I for one, have never heard this name on a girl, and I would be confused if I did. It is a BOY name. I know it isn't your fault if you know girls named August, but these days there are few boys names untouched by the girls, and this makes it hard to find a solid boys name. One of the reasons I like August so much is because it sounds so masculine to me. Also my great grandfather was Gus. So it has meaning for me. I hope I never hear this on a girl, so far so good! And as far as Garth Brooks, I guess anything goes for celebrities, thank goodness we are not fans of his and had no idea what is child's name is. Thanks for the advice, but I do not see this name as even unisex, let alone girly! I also do not see this name being MEGA popular for either gender. Thanks again, this is not geared to be an argument, I just wanted to point out some things.
