thank you all for your help with my elimination posts and my short boys name posts. i'm kind of going at naming this second one alone, because DH said that if the first one was named Anastazia, I'd get to name all the rest. *sigh* I didnt realize that that meant if i proposed a name, his response would be: "whatever you like, dear..." grrr!

just a quick note before i get into the names: my DD's name is particularly heavy in meaning---Anastazia (Zia) Lukas is named for (first name) a grandmother and g-g-g-grandmother and Lukas is my grandmother's maiden name. we have since decided to stick pretty close to the family tree for naming #2 so #2 doesnt wonder why they werent named "after" anyone. Last name is Cannova (Italian, Cah-NOH-va)

ok, for boy's names, here are what we are considering:
FIRST NAMES: Rocco (same meaning as DH's name), George (my beloved grandfather), Wallace (a dear great-uncle; would be NN'd ACE).
MIDDLE NAMES: Add Stephen and Vincenzo/Enzo to the list---(Stephen is my dad, grandpa and brother & will not be used with Wallace since it is my dad's confirmation name) nor with Vincenzo (since my brother's name is Stephen Vincent). Here is our list--our faves have *'s.

Rocco George
Rocco Stephen (DH likes this, i agree with feedback here that is it too plain--using the name below would also honor my dad)
Rocco Wallace **
George Rocco**
Wallace (Ace) Rocco
Enzo (mn? i dont like Vincenzo/Enzo with any of the other names as mn's)

GIRL'S First name will be (drum roll please!) ARTEMESIA (possible spelling ARTEMISIA) with the nn ARI (AR like in ARt-EE, not "airy".) Artemesia is the botanical name for wormwood, from which absinthe is made, & is a womens' healing herb, greek for Gift from Artemis (goddess of the moon and hunt, perfection) AND---i think it also complements Anastazia well in cadence, rhythm, #syllables, femininity, etc) AND--it is also the name of one of the first renown female artists. Possible middle names are (and I know I'll prolly get crucified for a couple of these masculine sounding ones, but since Zia has a masculine sounding "family name" middle name, we're taking liberty of considering masculine names for middle names. (so there! ;)

Artemesia Wallis*
(a nod to my uncle Wally---using the spelling used by Wallis Simpson)

Artemesia Zofia
my grandmother was Sophia, but I wont use Sophia for the trendiness)

Artemesia George**
(i expect to take a lot of flak on this, but if a model can be named James, i think we can use George as a mn. George was the only grandpa I knew and because of a family rift, i was the only granddaughter (of ten grandkids-one other granddaughter) that he got to know. he cried when i sent him my senior portrait and died wearing a Chicago Bears sweatshirt I gave him for Christmas.)

so---can you help me narrow these down? any thots?

thanks again for your feedback. like i said, i really depend on this list because DH isnt participating!

happy new year!

For boys I really liek Wallace, nn Ace. I can understand not wanting to use Wallace and George together, you don't want to saddle the kid with that kind of baggage, so my vote would go to Wallace Rocco. Also Zia and Ace are both short sweet nns.

For a girl I again like Wallis. That makes me think of Wallis Simpson, which is a terribly romantic story. I think that Artemesia and Zofia kind of run together, and yes, I believe George is a man's name. If it were Georgia I would consider it, but Wallis is so much lovelier than George for a little girl.

There you go, my votes: Wallace Rocco and Artemesia Wallis.

Let's see...
First, I think that Ari as a nickname goes perfectly with her sister Zia. I prefer Wallis as a middle name for Artemesia. Wallis sounds like a solid, family name, where George is for sure masculine sounding (unless you did Georgia - but not sure of the ia/ia sound for both the fn and mn). For a boy, I really like Rocco and Wallace... maybe Rocco Wallace over Wallace Rocco a little more. I can relate to not getting much input from your husband... Good Luck!

Just want to say I love your use of George and Wallis for second names for a girl!

I love the name Rocco. And using a 'male' mn is perfectly fine. It honors your family. Good luck!
