I was in the "like it but only as a nn" category. I think it's an adorable name, but not one that is necessarily great for resumes and such. I have a friend whose daughter is Carlyn nn Carly and I love that. Some of the other obvious full name choices are Carla and Carlene, but I'm not a huge fan of either of those. Caroline is one of my all time favorite names though, and I think Carly would be a cute nn for Caroline.

Good luck!

I prefer Calla, as in the Lily, and the spelling Kali

Actually, it's funny that you mention Carlyn because that is our idea for a longer, full name. My mom's maiden name was Carlin so I thought that using either Carlin or Carlyn with the nickname Carly would be great. Thanks for the replies everyone! :)

I love Carlin or Carlyn with either spelling. I think it's pretty and different and I love that it has a family meaning for you. (It does for my friend also, their Carlyn is named after a much-loved uncle Carlo) It sounds like a perfect name for you, have you thought about middle names yet?

Thanks Annie! :) Here are some we are thinking of:

Carly Elizabeth
Carlyn Elizabeth (or Carlin)
Carlyn Julia
Carlyn Anne
Carly Anne
Carly Rose
Carlyn Rose

I think Carlyn Elizabeth is my favorite, but I like all of your choices. Anne is my least favorite only because it sounds repetitive (CarLYN ANNE - it's not the same syllable really, so it's not bad, but it's similar enough for me to like it least of the four choices) I think it depends on your last name, also. If it's 1-2 syllables, I'd definitely use Elizabeth or Julia, but if it's more than that, I would go with Rose just to keep it from getting to be too much of a mouthful.

Good luck!

I love the name Carly, but prefer spelling it Carlie. I also like Carlee and Carleigh.
