I like really classic, strong names for boys, but can't think of any I just love.

Sorry, but I don't really like these names too much. I like Charlie as a nn for Charles, but Charles just seems stuffy to me. I don't like Eddie or Marty AT ALL- they seem geeky! Jackson is nice, but very popular right now. I like Timothy, that's where my vote went to. Its nice, and not too common. Toby is cute.

Yeah, my concern with Marty and Eddie is the geekiness factor...although so many people tell me they don't think that will be a problem.

I'm sad that Jackson is so popular also, I've always liked it. From your list, I really like Edward, but I like the nn Ted rather than Eddie. I also really love Thaddeus (nn Tad or Thad) which is pretty similar in tone.
