Lots of good advice! I am pregnant with my second and just received a new diaper genie. Should I exchange it for the Diaper Decor? Can you tell me what the differences are?

Thanks-

All I know about the Diaper Genie is that everyone I know who's gotten one (most people do, as I guess it's the most well-known) absolutely hate it. ;)~ They say it's a pain to use and that it doesn't keep the smell contained well enough. I believe the one we had last time was the Diaper Champ, and I can personally say this one was TERRIBLE! Our entire kitchen smelled like diapers until we broke down and got the Diaper Decor to replace it. Yuck!

The Diaper Decor is hands-free (has a foot pedal to open it ... a big plus when you're holding an infant!) and a snap to change the bags (which are powder-scented and really hold in that stinky diaper smell). The bags are actually one long piece of plastic folded into a sort of ring that you just sit right in the top (kind of around the "trap doors" the diapers fall through). These are good for a ton of seperate "bags." Basically, you pull a piece down (think a bag with openings on both ends) and tie a quick knot at the bottom to form the bag. Then, when the pail is full, you use the little cutting mechanism mounted on the inside of the door to cut the bag off at the top and tie another knot there (then do the same thing to make a new bag ... so you're not really changing the bag each time, just pulling some more bag down). The HUGE plus to this is that you can change the pail anytime you want (say, for extra-smelly bundles LOL), and not worry about wasting any bags, because you can cut them off at any size (ie. you could use a bag that's 2 feet tall for dozens of diapers or cut one at just 8 inches with a few extra stinky ones, KWIM?). Also, it looks a lot nicer than most other pails I've seen ... ours is right in our living room and no one even notices it!

I'm so happy with that purchase, I'm getting another one for the nursery with this baby (since I do have a changing pad in there and I'd get a lot more use out of it if I could throw the diaper away right there instead of having to bring it downstairs anyway ... we have a three-story home LOL).

Anyway, sorry this is so long ... I didn't know how to answer your question in a more concise manner LOL. Hope that helped, and if you have any more questions feel free to ask! :)
