What do you look for in a name?



  • Just like it (sound/look/etc...)
  • Family names
  • Names from countries of heritage (i.e. England, China)
  • Popularity
  • Historic value
  • Other (please post)

We pick a fn that we like & then try to make the mn a family name.

We are the same way. I like to reserve middle names for family names since family is usually the only people that know the middle names anyway.

As far as first names.... I like names that would work for a little kid, but also work well in the professional world. My yardstick is the Supreme Court...LOL.... if I couldn't imagine a Supreme Court Justice with my child's name, I won't name them that. I don't mind cute nicknames as an option. In fact, since I have a short name that has no nn options, I prefer giving my kids that option as they go through school.

That is my naming philosophy....
