Beautiful name that is not used very often any more. If you do use it I bet she will always be the only one in her class.

I'm not a fan of Joanna or Hannah, but for some reason I love Johanna. Seems fresher I guess.

Joanna is an old-lady name. Please do not put your daughter through all that torture. She will get teased until she graduates from high school. Sorry, no offense.

Hi there!

Would you consider the spelling Johanna? It's pronounced the same and I find it more elegant than Joanna, and I believe it's the original spelling of the name. I don't usually go for alternative spellings, but this one is widely accepted, though yes, you will end up having to correct people because Joanna is more common.

I was surprised someone said that Joanna is an old-lady name that will torture your little girl through high school. Huh?

My two cents!

Cara

Joanna is lovely! I don't see how someone says a child with this name would be "tortured"-huh?? Please-there are true "old lady" names being used now that I think are truly bad. Agnes anyone?? Joanna is very sweet. Now Joanne would be a bit plain jane sounding but Joanna has spunkiness!

I think Joanna is due for a comeback.

It's ripe for a comeback! I don't see how at a time that the top names are Emma and Emily, a Joanna would be "tortured" for having an "old lady" name. I think it will age a whole lot better than a lot of the trendy names in use today.
