My boyfriend and I have decided on names even though I'm not due until July. What do you think of the names we have picked? The middle names for each are our middle names.

Maggie Lynn
Noah David

My sister said that Maggie sounds like a dogs name, but when my boyfriend suggested it, I fell in love with it.

Noah David is very nice. I prefer Maggie as a nn, not a fn. Margaret Lynn, nn Maggie would be beautiful. I don't think of it as a dog's name, but it doesn't seem like it would grow very well with her, seems like a girls name, not so much for a woman. Plus with Margater she would have the flexibilty later of different nn's: Meg, Greta, Madge. Good luck!

Maggie Lynn is cute, but Maggie sounds more like a nn than a given name. I'd suggest going with something like Margaret or Marguerite for the first name, and having Maggie be the nn.

Maggie as a first name just seems like something is missing. At least if she has a full first name, she'll be able to choose when she's older if she'd like to continue going by Maggie, which might sound more "cutesy", or to start going by her given first name, which might make her feel more sophisticated.

Noah David is a fine name for a boy.

Best of luck to you!

Noah David is wonderful.

I really like Maggie. I don't like Lynn much though. Maggie Linnea. Maggie Lynette. I don't know something more substantial.

I hate to say it but my bil does has a dog named Maggie. But I still don't think of it as a dogs name.

Personally I don't like Margaret very much. I would rather use Maggie if it is a name I love, instead of using Margaret which I'm only so-so about in order to get the nn Maggie.

Thanks for your responses. Just wondering if anyone has any alternates for Maggie other than Margaret. I love the name Maggie, but can not stand the name Margaret. Lynn will be the middle name regardless: It is my middle name, my mother's middle name, and my mother-in-law's middle name.

Magdalena
Greta
Gretchen
Marjory
Mairéad
Malgorzata
Margarethe
Margarita
Margot/Margaux
Marit
Maritta
Marsaili
Megan
