What First name goes with Gayle?

I am only about 10 weeks into my pregnancy but have been doing a little thinking about the name thing. If we have a girl, I want to use my mother's name Gayle as a middle name, I have no idea what first name goes with that. She passed away almost 10 years ago and she was my best friend, and a really good mom, I want to honor her. My mn is Gayle, and I don't hate it, although I kinda did when I was a kid. On one hand I am already named after her so... but on the other hand I want it(her) remembered when I am gone. Opinions welcome, be nice please.

I think a lot of names go well with Gayle. You could also use Abigail as a way to honor you and your mom.

Not sure of your style, but here's a few ideas:

Alexandra Gayle
Sarah Gayle
Caris Gayle
Cecilia Gayle
Avery Gayle
Alyssa Gayle
Melinda Gayle
Hannah Gayle
Rebecca Gayle
Jenna Gayle

i like the name Gayle and i think that spelling is pretty too. another nice thing about it is to me it seems kinda generic like Marie or nicole or lyn as a middle name and just about anything will go with it. another option might be Abigayle or maybe Gayla.

Congratulations! I think it's wonderful that you want to honor your mother. That's really wonderful and I think someday your daughter will really appreciate that connection to her grandmother.

Personally, I like Gayle a lot, and I think you'll find that it goes well with TONS of names. You're really lucky in that regard. However, if you aren't sold on Gayle, there are lots of other ways to honor your mother. You could use her middle name or her maiden name. You could give your daughter the same initials she had. You could change Gayle to something that sounds similar (like Abigail).

I think you've got tons of leeway here. To help you find a combination you like, why don't you give us an idea of what types of names you like for a first name. Here are a bunch of random names from some categories. I think every one of these names (aside from Abigail) works well with Gayle or Abigail as a middle name. If you give us an idea of what types of names you like, we'd be happy to find tons of names along those lines so you can find one you love.

I love the PPs suggestions of Abigail, cause I really like that name, BUT I don't think it would be as obvious to others that you have honoured your mother than if you used her actual name.

I'm not sure what your style is, so I will just suggest a three-syllable name would sound GREAT with the one-syllable middle name Gayle.

For example:

Rebecca/Rebekah Gayle
Emily Gayle
Montana Gayle
Madison Gayle
Brianna Gayle

Gayle is absolutely beautiful! For some reason I think a "K" first name would sound good with it. Maybe Kaydence Gayle, or Kylynn Gayle? :)

I agree that the first name needs to be two or three syllables. My first name is Kristina, so that rules out a K, it's not my style. I like old fashioned names and also unique, my younger son is Layne, and my older son is David, he is named after his grandfather who died about 30 years ago. When we had our younger son 10 years ago,my husband wanted Destiny (Sierra) for a girl name, I liked Lainey, Jacqueline,Emma, I love names like Ruby, and Isabel. Honestly the odds of having a girl are pretty slim, but I am hoping it will be. I am surrounded by testosterone, even the cat is a boy. I am French, Irish and Native American descent and my husband is pure English. I am not ruling out the possibility of using our ancestry in the naming process.

I think you could also use Gayle (or Gale) as a mn for a boy, although I understand it would be more special to pass it on to a girl.
