I am only about 10 weeks into my pregnancy but have been doing a little thinking about the name thing. If we have a girl, I want to use my mother's name Gayle as a middle name, I have no idea what first name goes with that. She passed away almost 10 years ago and she was my best friend, and a really good mom, I want to honor her. My mn is Gayle, and I don't hate it, although I kinda did when I was a kid. On one hand I am already named after her so... but on the other hand I want it(her) remembered when I am gone. Opinions welcome, be nice please.

I didn't read thru the other posts

I think the long-E ending names and ah-ending names would both flow well into Gayle. 3-syllable ones might be better because Gayle is 1-syllable, although 2-syllable ones work fine too

Alyssa Gayle, Brianna Gayle, Carina Gayle, Delaney Gayle, Elena Gayle, Felicity Gayle, Hilary Gayle, Heidi Gayle, Hannah Gayle, Johanna Gayle, Janna Gayle, Jenna Gayle, Larisa or Larissa Gayle, Mackenzie Gayle, Marissa Gayle, Mallory Gayle, Naomi Gayle, Natasha Gayle, Natalie Gayle, Olivia Gayle, Rayna Gayle, Sienna Gayle, Sabrina Gayle, Sierra Gayle, Sophia Gayle, Samara Gayle, Tiffany Gayle, Whitney Gayle

also an idea - you could improvise a little and use Abigail in the middle if it worked better with a first name you liked, but didn't believe Gayle went quite right

good luck

Hello there, I was just browsing and I saw your post. My mother was also a Gayle and when she died my sister and I were both pregnant with girls. We both used her name as a middle name for our babies. My daughter is Corinne Gayle and her cousin is Aubrey Gayle (who actually goes by the nick name Aggie..after my grandmother Agatha..lol). Anyway, I was really happy with my choice to use Gayle as a middle name. I think it is a classic, despite people currently believing it is slightly out dated.

A friend of mine asked me what other family names I could put with it. My mom's full name was Betty Gayle, my grandmother's (both deceased) were Martha and Bessie(ewww). I had a sister who died as an infant whose name was Delena, which I love, but my husband said we can't use both. I thought those two would have gone well together....Delena Gayle, nice. I appreciate all the suggestions and will get to find out what it is in about six weeks. Oooooohhhhhh I can't wait. I predict it will be a boy, there have been boys only for like four generations back. I am hoping and praying I will have the fluke.
