I don't know how to pronounce Avelinn, so if I'd seen it on the poll, I wouldn't have voted for it. Is it like Evelyn? If so, then I love this name...but only if you spell it traditionally. With a name like Liberty, I think she might appreciate a more traditional middle name.
Truthfully, I don't really like the first name Liberty, but you must, so that's what matters. I didn't vote, because I would choose Liberty Elinor. I don't like it spelled with an A because I think it takes away some of the integrity and grace of the name. I love the name Elinor, and I'm glad to see that it's becoming a bit more popular. I also like Ellanor and Eleanor.
Are you going to call her Libby?
Congratulations on your adoption!
thanks for your reply, her name is already Liberty (she is in foster care, not with us though, we didnt choose Liberty for her, although I do Like it) and Yes we will call her Libby.
Avelinn is pronounced Ave(as is Shave) Lyn. it is an Irish name with an americanized spelling, Traditional spelling is Eibhleann, Eibhleann means: Beautiful, Radiant (another simmilar name is Aibhlinn (Ave-Lean) which means: Wished for Child, I just prefer the "Lyn sounding ending to the "lean" sounding one).
Elanor is actually a name from one of my favorite books (the Lord of the Rings) it is also the name of very pretty Golden Flowers in the same book, which is what the charactor is named after, which I think is very graceful and elegant. And I Really dont like it at all with the "I", so I guess that is just preferance.
Thanks again for your responce.

I would most definately have changed my vote if I'd had the option (and known the pronounciation) of Avelinn!!!! Although I really like how the traditional Irish name, Eibhleann looks when written, unfortunately, I dont think that most people would be able to pronounce it correctly.<--Too Bad.....
Other ways you could spell it:
Avelynn
Aivlinn
Aivlynn
Aivlyn
Aivlin
Avelyn
And BTW, I really like the name Liberty nn Libby, in fact, I love the nn Libby but had never thought of a full name (other than Elizabeth) to use it with!
Good Luck and Congratulations!
Sarah
Hi, again,
OK, now I understand about the Liberty. I love the nickname Libby!
And, since now I know how to pronounce Avelyn, how about this...you said one of the traditional spellings was Aibhlinn, right. What about Aivlin or Aivlinn, or even Aivlyn? This is my reasoning: when I see Avelyn, I want to pronounce it "Ay-vah-lynn," but the correct pronunciation is more obvious with Aivlin or Aivlinn, and it also honors the traditional Irish spelling more. I very much like the name, now that I know the meaning.
I still don't really like Elanor (but only because I loved Jane Austen's Elinor in Sense and Sensibility). Since you are attached to your spelling because of literature, as well, I completely understand and respect it. As you may know from reading my other posts, I just don't like invented spellings, so now that I know yours isn't invented, I like it much more.
Good luck, and let us know which you choose! Congratulations, again!
Hello again to you too,
Thanks for your reply, I have been considering Aivlinn, as well, I just havent decided yet. and since I now know about your attachment to Elinor I can understand it better as well and I respect that, I will just stick to my preferance of Elanor.
Im not a big fan of creative spellings, for the most part, but I do Love unique/ uncommon names. I really dont even like having to americanize the spelling of Aibhlinn/Eibhleann, but there is just no way it would ever be pronounced correctly here in america.
Thanks again for your post, and for the congratulations.
