I chose Other, because I feel like I have a mixed style. My kids are Kaelyn, Tyler, Zachary and soon to be Faith. I love a wide range of names, going from Josephine to Zoe, Noah to Camden.

Devin.

That is about THE longest list I've ever seen. LOL

I like :

Alexandra, Amandine (not sure how to pronounce it though), Annabel, Anastasia, Anna, Amelie (as an alternative for Emily or Amelia), Arabella, Audrey, Aurelia, Aurora* (nn Rory), Bronwen, Catherine*, Dorothea, Elisabeth*, Evangeline (nn Evie), Francesca* (LOVE nn Cesca), Esmeralda, Georgiana, Jane**, Josephine, Louisa* (and Louise), Nora, Rosalind*, Rosemary, Ruby.

Alexander, Benjamin*(Dh has a cousin Ben so I can't use it!), Charles, Declan, Duncan, Elias, Henry*(my most favorite of all), Ian*, Hugh, James(Dh and his ex used it for their 2nd Ds who passed away, I'd love to use IT too), John*(right close behind Henry on my faves list), Nathanial, Nicholas(of course), Stephen(ditto from James), Spencer, Timothy*(ditto from Benjamin)

How in the world will you ever choose with such a long list!! I thought my list was cumbersome. Great names BTW.

Wow Devin! What a great list. The majority of these names are on my list too, and if they weren't they are now ;) Some I would never use, but love and some I hope I will get to use.

I listed the ones that I wasn't sure about the pronunciations... If I am butchering them let me know

Girls:

Ambrosine (is the 'ine' prn. eee-n, eye-n, or in?)

Anjali (An-jaah-li, or An-jah-li)

Richenda/Richensa-- I'm tripping over this one

Boys:

Alaric (Al-are-ic or Al-eric)

Aloysious ???

Taleisin ( The way I'm saying it, it sounds like Tale of sin... I hope not)

I said "other" as well. My kids names are sort of all over the place. Deja, my 1st husband & I kind of made up. It was a 70's thing, what can I say. LOL But I do love it - Deja Rene. Unusual but still pretty.

Ian is Gaelic & kind of a traditional name. 12 years ago it was also fairly unusual. And I also love the meaning!

And then there is my trendy Tyler. One of 4 in his class sometimes. It was the ONLY name my dh & I could agree on at the time. I do like his name a lot but do wish it wasn't so popular.

Now, I am thinking ahead for our next daughter and the names on my list are (as you're probably getting tired of hearing lol):

Traditional - Abigail, Jessie, Elisabeth/Elisabet

Gaelic - Delaney & Keely

Unusual - Eden, Annabeth & Anya

Trendy? - Aubrey would you consider Aubrey trendy? or unusual?

Delaney would probably go down here under trendy also.

I know that I am quite fond of some of the Gaelic names. My favorite boys names besides Ian are Alec & Graham. I also like Duncan quite a bit.

I'd say my style is traditional with a twist. I like names that are real names (not madeup) but that not alot of people have, and most of the names I like are long ones with nns. Example....

Girls - Juniper "June", Wilhelmina "Willa", Amaryllis "Maris", Arabella "Arie", Alanna "Lana"

Boys - Benedict "Bennie", Nicholai "Nicky", Lincoln "Linc", Raphael "Rafe", Silas "Si"

Not to hijack the poll....

elizabook, Amandine is pronounced like a cross between Amanda & Almondine. It's an older, French form of Amanda. :)

Jorie:

Girls:

Ambrosine - pronounced "een" at the end, feminine of Ambrose!

Anjali - An-jah-li is very close to right, the "jah" is very short (rather zhah sounding for that matter) with the accented syllable on the "lee" part. At least that's how the Indian (Eastern, not Native) grandmother of Anjali says it!

Richenda/Richensa - Theyr'e actually both said the same.. Reesh-en-zah

Boys:

Alaric - just like it looks, actually..Al-er-ic

Aloysious - Said Al-oh-ish-us.

Taleisin - "Tale of sin... I hope not." Nope.. Ta-LAY-eh-zin.. I love this mythological boy's name

And Peggy.. Thank You! I've been fascinated by names since I was small and have lists upon lists of them. This list here is just my overall favorites.. the ones I'd actually use! Glad you all liked it. Feel free to take any you all like, I have more!

I chose 'unique' because I love names that nobody else has, or that the likeliness of someone else having that name is very slim. I love Hannah and Olivia but they are WAY too popular now. Here is my list of favourites:

Girls

- Calla

- Adora

- Thora

- Mackinley

- Dahlia

Boys

- Weston

- Kaden/Kaiden

- Daxton

- Hudson

- Xane/Zane

Haven't quite decided on middle names, but I think we will choose family names. My grandmother's name is Madeline and I love the way it sounds with Thora. With our last name being Smith I think we need very distinctive first names. John Smith just isn't an option!

I like names that are Irish. My husband's mother is from Dublin, Ireland, and all 13 grandchildren have an Irish name. I think it's nice to be able to continue the Irish tradition and give them a name with meaning.
