I voted for Lorelei Michelle. I now a lot of people LOVE it, but I just DO NOT like the name Fiona at all! Sorry :) just being honest. It reminds me of Shrek, since that is the only time I really have heard it, and my DS has a Shrek book that he loves, so I read about Fiona all the time :) I MUCH prefer Lorelei Michelle, it is VERY pretty.

I voted for Lorelei because I think Fiona is going to keep growing in popularity thanks to Shrek. Plus, I like Lori as a nn.

Popularity was definitely a concern of mine regarding Fiona. I've seen it discussed a great deal on this board, and it seems like it might continue rising on the popularity charts. However, Lorelei seems like a name that most people are familiar with and love, but is never actually used that often, KWIM? I have already met one baby named Fiona since I started considering the name, but I have yet to meet a Lorelei (although the pharmacist on the Walgreens commercial I saw the other day was named Loralie, which I thought was kind of funny).

I think both names are pretty and refreshing. They make great future sibling names, too. I prefer Fiona with Michelle because if we get down to the finest, tiniest details- Lorelei Michelle is a lot of L- sound. I slightly prefer the name Lorelei, and it is/will be the less popular of the two. Neither is used enough for that to be a huge consideration at this point. Both will grow more, but you're safe from

I actually like both names a lot, although they have very different feels to me. Lorelei is utterly frilly/feminine and has a very German mythological thing going on, while Fiona is more a spunky, Scottish feel (not to mention the obvious Shrek association).

The Shrek thing is what actually kept us from using Fiona as our third dd's mn, but we ended up going with the very-similar Fiora (which avoided the Shrek association and is a bit softer as well, we thought).

As far as the flow with the mn goes, I also much prefer Fiona with Michelle because Lorelei Michelle is pretty heavy on the Ls, as a pp mentioned. Still both are beautiful names, so you really can't go wrong!

HTH ;)
