I chose Leila Monique just because I don't care for the name Robin. If you do go with Robin I'd spell it Robyn - looks a little more feminine to me.

I'm not particularly crazy about either of them, but if I have to choose, then I like Monique a little better (but that's just because I don't like Robin...and changing the spelling to Robyn might make it more feminine, but it doesn't really make me like it any better...sorry). Also, Monique seems to flow a little better.

Leila, to me, is lay-lah. I know three girls with this name, and all of them are lay-lahs. Not a single lee-lah among them. I prefer lay-lah over lee-lah, but obviously you don't. Since this is the case, I wonder if you'd consider spelling it Leela so that she doesn't have to wear a pronunciation key around her neck on the first day of school every year.

By the way, I saw your siggie on another post, and the photo is quite lovely. Where was your wedding? Just curious...you don't have to answer if you don't want to.

I just think Monique is more feminine and pretty. Never really cared for Robin.

I voted for Robin. I think that Leila and Monique are both frillier names, and it's nice to have Leila paired with the more solid Robin (if that makes sense). Anyway, after reading your reason for considering Robin, then I'm even more sold.

How cool to pass on a name that her grandparents share! (One of the reasons I want to use Paul as a mn for a future boy is that DH's grandparents are Paul and Pauline, and my dad's mn is Paul -- too many family ties not to use it!)

Good luck with your girl!

I really love Robin. I think it's a beautiful name, and very underused. And the fact that it has family significance for you really seals it for me. I think it's the better choice by far. (And I like the spelling as is. I wouldn't change it.)
