Which do you think is better?

  • Tatum Bronwyn
  • Tatum Bronwen
  • Tatum Grace
  • DH doesn't like Tatum but will give it to me if Grace

  • is the mn. I prefer Bronwyn in either spelling.
  • I don't like Grace as I try to stay away from the trends
  • Big Brothers are Wyatt Edwin (8) and Jackson William (4)

If your DH doesn't like Tatum, then search for something else. There are a million names in this world, why pick one that he doesn't like???

I like the name Tatum, I think Tatum Grace just flows better and is easier to say.

Good Luck with your decision.

Because it has always been my favorite girl name, but we had boys before.

If you end up using Bronwen in any combination, I strongly recommend using that spelling. Bronwyn doesn't exist in Welsh, because the -wyn ending is exclusively used in male names, while -wen is feminine. Bronwyn is a modern, North American spelling that many with knowledge of the Welsh language look upon with disdain. Yes, a number of Gaelic and Welsh male names are now occasionally being used for girls, but there is no masculine form of Bronwen in Welsh (in myth, the character is sometimes called Branwen and her twin brother is Bran, meaning 'raven' while Bron- means 'breast', but a male compound with -wen or wyn, meaning 'white', never existed) The Y spelling tends to look like a culturally-illiterate mistake rather than a statement on gender relations.

If your dh doesn't like Tatum, don't name your child Tatum.

I'd already voted for Tatum Bronwen (I also wouldn't use the -wyn spelling, btw), but I don't think I had a chance to reply to say how much I love Tatum. ;)

Tatum Grace seems to flow a bit better, but it immediately reminded me of the phrase "saving grace" (just the syllable thing ... no one else would think of it, I'm sure LOL). No matter what you think of Grace, however, if it's the only compromise you can reach that gets you both a name you love, I think it's great! Especially since it allows you to give your little girl the name you've obviously loved for so long. So if dh wants Tatum Grace, by all means meet him halfway.
