I would say it is definetly between Reese and Gabrielle. Lyric, IMO, is HORRIBLE. If you want to use it, consider how it would like on your child when she becomes a woman. It would seem ridiculous, for example, Dr. Lyric (Last name). Very unprofessional. It just seems very silly to me. As for Mikayla and Makenna, they are trendy names and way too popular. And also that trend is ending, so it will seem very outdated in a few years. I love Reese, and it got my vote. I think its very sweet and pretty. You could use it as a nn for Theresa/Therese, or on its own is nice as well. Gabrielle is pretty too. Its my second choice.

I think you'll notice Gabrielle getting a lot of votes in this poll because many would never consider the other names themselves.

Mikayla and Makenna are both extremely trendy misspellings of Celtic surnames, Reese is a nn or an Anglicized spelling of the male name Rhys (I've never actually heard of a single female with this name, other than seeing it considered on here), and Lyric is a word (and when used as a name much too closely associated with Jason's Lyric, IMO).

Just thought you might like some perspective on the reasons why so many might be voting for Gabrielle, since it seems to be winning by a landslide at the moment. ;)

TWO WORDS: REESE WITHERSPOON, just won an Academy Award. This probably explains why it's being seen so much on this board.

I completely concur with your analysis of the reason for the Gabrielle landslide. I don't particularly like Gabrielle or Reese, but I voted whole-heartedly for Reese because it sounded the least made-up AND the most likely to see a female through her entire life (rather than just the first 8 or 9 years).

ROFL ... I do know who Reese Witherspoon is, but her given name is actually Laura Jean Reese Witherspoon (Reese being her mother's last name, not simply a second mn). So again, I still have never met a girl with Reese as a given name (although I do know one Therese Marie nicknamed Reese/Reesie, but she's two and her parents do plan to call her Therese as she matures). You're right about Ms. Witherspoon possibly being the reason we're seeing this name a lot on here lately (and I actually think she seems to be a great person given her low-key lifestyle and ability to have and raise a family at such a young age, given the types of people we usually see portrayed in Hollywood). Perhaps some of those considering the name for this reason would be interested in knowing how and why she chose this particular stage name, however. In other words, if Reese WAS in fact the OP's maiden name, I might see it as less of a nn and more of a family name. In general, though, I'll stick with my original impression. ;)

I would like to add to the PPs, Gabrielle would rarely get a vote from me in a poll, it is just nms, but given the other options it was the only name I could vote for.
