Which NAME do you like Best?

  • Anna Kathryn
  • Hannah Kathryn
  • Neither
  • PS, the spelling for Kathryn is a family name, so I don't want to change it

My dd is Anna Catherine and my niece is Hannah Kathryn (both Catherine spellings are family names!) Can't go wrong with either but I voted for Anna.

My dd is 6 and she is the only one of 96 Kindergarteners in her school with that name. But she has had at least one other Anna in her dance class for the past two years. My Anna goes by Annie right now so it hasn't been an issue.

Good luck!

If she runs into another Anna in school, you could always use Anna Kate- that is really cute!

I think both of the combos are nice. However, Anna Kathryn was my favorite :) BTW I love the way you spell Kathryn :) I know two children with the fn Anna. They go by double names- Anna Kate and Anna Rose. Best wishes~

I know quite a few Hannahs, but no Annas ... though I know it's not UNpopular. ;)

Hannah definitely seems the "trendier" choice (not to say it's trendy, but that it's more mainstream popular if you KWIM). For instance, the newest Hannah I can think of has an older sister named Savannah (yeah, really), which is a totally different vibe than I'd get from Anna (whose sisters I would expect to be named Claire/Clara, Catherine, Eleanor, Mary ... more classic choices, if that makes sense).

My DS has 2 Annas (and Hannah) in his class of only 18 kids. I know at least 10 Annas under the age of 7, three of which I know are Anna Katherine (some spelling of Katherine). It is very popular around here. A gorgeous name, but in the top 20 (Hannah is in the top 10).

I think that Hannah is getting kicked out of the running.

I live in the Midwest. You can always check the Social Security site if you haven't already http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/ there is also a link there on the left hand side to see the top 100 names for your state.

Another good place to check is the web nursery for any local hospitals. many have them and you can see the names of babies recently born there.

You can use the Social Security site to look up by state.

http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/namesbystate.html

The year my Anna was born, there were 266 babies in our state named that as oppose to the close to 600 Hannahs!
