I agree- go with Lorene if you want it to be after the family member.

Why don't you just use Audrey Lorene?? Sounds good.

I actually completely disagree with the previous comments. ;)

I believe you've said before that Lorene is not really your style, and to be honest AWD-ree LAWR-een sounds quite awkward with the "aw" and "ee" sounds in both. Substituting Loren, which drops only the final "e" but changes the pronunciation and feel of the name just enough to make it a lovely combo (rather than simply a tolerable one you'd feel you were settling for) is a wonderful compromise.

And honestly, I don't get the whole "you have to use the same exact name or it doesn't count" mentality. Sure, if you feel forced to use a family name and try to say Bailey is for Bertha (after the fact and excluding families where using only initials is tradition ), that doesn't seem like much of an honor. LOL But if you *want* to use a name in honor of someone dear to you, and actively search for the perfect one, that doesn't mean you automatically have to use the name their parents chose for them.

It could be a nn (I like names Lulu can be a nn for because it's what my dad has always called my mom, whose given name is Cynthia LOL), something that reminds you of them (a special place or book, for example) ... pretty much anything. Obviously a name so similar to hers, that reminds you of her and has so much thought behind it, is a great way to incorporate her into your dd's name. The Lauren spelling might be a slight stretch, but Loren is very obviously from and for Lorene. Seriously. I think it's lovely. ;)

Audrey Loren easily GMV.
