The first thing I thought of when I read Maxine nn Maxie was a way for children to pick on her. I voted for Evangelina.

I voted for Evangelina, but prefer Evangeline. I don't mind long names at all, but five syllables is really something. ;)

Thanks!

Maxine!!! How spunky is that. The other names are nice, but Maxine has spunk and originality.

I'd probably go with Evangeline or Angelina.

I could never use Maxine, nn Maxie. Maxie makes me immediately think of maxi pad, and maybe it's just me, but that seems like lots of inevitable teasing.

I voted for Olivia. It's pretty popular, but I still really love it. I really love Liv for the nickname, but Livi is nice for when she's little.

For what it's worth, I love Evangeline. I prefer the last syllable pronounced like the last syllable of Caroline, with a long I, but either way is nice. I prefer Eva for the nickname over Evie, and I also like Vivi, though it may be more of a stretch.

I wouldn't worry about the maxi pad association for 2 reasons. 1) Usually they are just referred to as "pads", no one calls them maxi pads anymore! 2) Max is a common name for boys and they don't get teased, so why would a girl?

I really love the name!

Commercials still refer to them as maxi pads. I'm not 80 years old or anything. :-) I just heard them called maxi pads on television the other day.

And about Max: Boys called Max don't get teased for the very good reason that they're called Max, not maxi. Also, boys don't have periods and thus do not use pads...the connection probably doesn't occur to them.

I like Maxine, too, but I'd just stay away from Maxie. I think Max is a perfectly cute nickname for a girl. Especially if it's used as part of a double name: Anna Maxine, called Anna Max, or Lilly Maxine, called Lilly Max...something like that. So cute!
