Lorelei is beautiful and not very common at all, so I don't like popular Ethan, Max, etc. with it. I don't like Logan because they both begin with L and it takes away from the names. Christian is great. It is not very popular and sounds perfect with Lorelei.

I completely understand what you're saying about the popularity of some of our choices. Unfortunately, dh is much more into traditional names than I am. I'm lucky he even agreed to Lorelei - he doesn't usually go for anything that exotic. However, he's much more conservative when it comes to boy's names, and we're having a difficult time agreeing on anything. For example, I really like the names Sebastian, Gabriel, or Asher. He either doesn't like these or thinks they're too prissy.

He loves Ethan, but Christian is definitely an option too. However, since you brought up the issue of popularity, isn't Christian pretty popular too? I thought it ranked number 22 this year. Wouldn't I have the same concern with this name as the others?

P.S. Thinking ahead, Christian would go really well with another name I might use later on...Evangline. WDYT about Christian, Lorelei and Evangline as sib names? (I know, I'm planning for the future).

I voted for Christian. I like the name Logan but I think Lorelei and Logan is too much alliteration. My DH name is Christian Martin and he goes by Martin. Personally I don't really like the name Christian (bad associations I think) but I think it was the best one on your list. (PS I love Ahser and Lorelei too!)
Because you DH likes the more traditional names what about:
Martin
Spencer
Seth
Ian
Joshua
Jeremy
Wyatt??

I do like the name Wyatt, and I actually brought this up with DH the other day. He said it was a possibility. :) I guess that's better than NO. My only concern is that our ln is Thomas, so I'm not sure Wyatt Thomas is the best flow. It's not horrible but it's something to think about. Spencer is also on my top 10 list, but he thinks it sounds geeky. I don't understand him sometimes. I swear he has some type of bad association for every name I pick! It's frustrating.

I would say Christian is very popular, I would say it is on the same level as Ethan, Logan ect...I have known several.

I ended up voting for Christian, but I agree that most of these seem too popular next to Lorelei. I'd look for something that's not unheard of -- and not "prissy" LOL -- but still a little less common, KWIM? Maybe ...

Conrad
Corbin
Crispin
Emeric
Aldrick/Alaric (not very common, but similar to traditional names like Albert, Eric, etc., and definitely not prissy)
Garrick
Roderick
Hoyt

I'd also try looking at the names you both like and finding some similar names that might not be quite as popular (like Crispin, Corbin or Conrad instead of Christian). Just some ideas! ;)
