I guess it depends what name/pronunciation you're going for here.

Anneliese -- technically ah-ne-LEE-zu, though I generally hear simply ah-ne-LEES here in the US
Annaliese -- I wouldn't know quite what to make of this, so I'd assume ann-a-LEE-zu, like the name Anna with the end of Anneliese, or Anna Lisa
Annalise -- this is ANN-a-lees
Annelise --ah-ne-LEES. If it's simplicity you want, especially considering the varied spellings and different pronunciations listed, I'd stick with this one.
Annaleece -- I'm sorry, but that just looks ridiculous.

Anneliese or Annelise would be the correct forms, and either would be fine. To avoid too much confusion I'd probably stick with Annelise, however, as mentioned above.

Well I'm glad to hear you're not seriously considering that one, then. To be quite honest, it immediately reminds me of the word "fleece," as in "to strip of money or property by fraud or extortion; to charge excessively for goods or services." Just an odd thing to think of in relation to a child's name. It also makes it look like the woman didn't know Anneliese was a real name, so she made up a "fonetik" spelling for the name she thought she'd created. LOL Nice.

I'm not sure if you're saying you originally liked the name Anna and thought it sounded nice with -liese on the end, unaware Anneliese was an actual name, or if you like Annelise but prefer the Anneliese spelling (which the former is a variant of anyway). Either way, if you like Anneliese, with the -liese ending, I'd stick with that spelling. It often loses it's "ah" beginning sound here in the US anyway, so it shouldn't be a problem to get the Ann- pronunciation you prefer.

Well I want to say it IS too popular so you won't use it and it won't GET too popular lol :)

My favorite spelling is Anneliese and that's what I voted for. But -- I knew my hubby (and everyone else) would never "get" that spelling so I opted for my second choice, Annelise.

It's a lovely name - that's why I chose it! :) Good luck!

I wouldn't use any spelling starting with Annal, since it is too close to anal.

I voted for Anneliese, but I also like Annelise.

I don't think it is too popular at all.

2005 Social Security rankings:

Annalise = # 672
Anneliese = # 915

Lovely name. My husband wouldn't consider it for our daughter.
