I love Gwyneth, and think Gwen is a perfectly acceptable nn. Gwen stems from Gwyn, after all, and is often considered the feminine form anyway, so it follows that Gwen would make the most sense as a feminine stand-alone name or nn. You don't HAVE to literally shorten it, KWIM?

I also like Gwenyth, which is generally considered a separate name with it's own origin and meaning (just in case you weren't aware). My only concern with it is that most WILL simply assume it a form of Gwyneth -- or worse, a misspelling. It isn't, but I was always afraid that's how most would view it.

So while all are fine choices, Gwyneth, nn Gwen, gmv. ;) LOVE IT!

I have wondered if people would think Gwenyth was a misspelling instead of a different name- I don't want that! Thanks for the input.

Anytime, Liz.

I've actually had both on my lists, but noticed many seemed unfamiliar with Gwenyth (thinking it was a misspelling), so I've pretty much dropped it in favor of Gwyneth now, though I would still use the nn Gwen. ;)

You really can't go wrong with any of them, though.

(Edited because I can't spell LOL)
