I have NEVER heard Lamar for a girl - I don't think that qualifies as unisex - it's definite male

I voted for Avery Milan. Unisex names are nmsaa, but I've heard Avery on even older women, so it's my understanding that this is truly a unisex name (not just a boy name used on a girl) and has been for quite some time.

I actually don't mind Kallie or Cassidy either, but they are a little too 80s/90s for me, as I knew several growing up. I don't really consider those to be unisex though.

Hi Soccer mom,

Oh gosh, I feel like I'm being bashed via email on the unisex names again. Lamar is a family name which is why I have it listed as use for a middle name and not a first name option. Since my husband gave me the choice of whether or not to adopt a boy or girl and I get to pick the first name, I saw nothing wrong with using a family name (like many women do with their maiden names) as the middle. As far as any name NEVER being used for a female. Unisex names are by design trendy so until you know of people with the names you have a certain assocation. I work in a high school and there are many popular, pretty, feminine girls with names that I NEVER thought were girls names before I met them

Ex:

Carter
Marshall
Riley
Avery
Logan
Chandler
Taylor
Jordan
Charlie
Shelby
Clarke
Chase

I do realize that people either love or hate unisex names. I grew up in the eighties and none of those names were considered girls names then but now they are all in the top.

At the risk of being responded to like the PP, I'm going to weigh in on this one too.

Skyler Lamar-While I understand the family connection of Lamar, I don't care for the sound of this one since the fn ends with the same sound as the mn starts with.

Brooke Lamar-Not bad, but Brooke has never been a favorite of mine.

Clarke McKenna- I don't care for this because even though I know unisex names are trendy, there are some names I just can't see on a girl and Clarke (with or without an E) is one of them.

Chase McKenna-This is the one I voted for. It has the best sound.

Avery Milan-My second choice, very cute.

Piper Grace- Cute, but like I said about Clarke, some names I just can't see going either name, and I don't see Piper as being a true unisex name.

Kallie-Again, IMO, sounds like a strictly female name, not unisex.

Cassidy- I don't care for this at all. Reminds me of Kathie Lee Gifford.

The name I chose is really growing on me lately, although I will never be able to picture it as a boys' name! : Piper.

First impressions: Clarke and Chase are WAY too masculine for a little girl. If she is of a different race or ethnic background than you, then life may be a little challenging for her from time to time. I think calling her Clarke or Chase would be just one more thing to deal with.

Sklyer, Brooke and Avery are fine unisex names, imo. Piper is a bit too "cutesy" to my ears. Kallie seems a tad too nicknamish, and I have to say that Cassidy is too "cowboyish" for me.
