I don't care for Elizabella. #1) It looks and sounds made up - a smoosh of the names Eliza/Elizabeth and Isabella #2) It sounds odd with Leila - way too heavy on the Ls and the repetitive Li sound makes the entire name a tongue twister.

Leila Elizabeth is lovely. But is you like Isabella, then I would name her Leila Isabella in spite of the heavy on Ls issue. I would not accomodate my son in selecting a name for my child. He'll get his chance with he's a father one day!

Thanks for your reply, but my son is the most important person in my life in addition to this new baby to come and I do want him to be a part of choosing a name for his little sister that is why I give him the opportunity to choose a name too :-). There are still 2 more months , so we will see what else I will think about..

Thank you,

Gina

I am not a fan of Elizabella because I personally feel that putting two beautiful names togehter to make one "new" name is tacky. Elizabeth is a beautiful, classic name, as is Isabella. Pick one or the other, I say. I LOVE Leila Elizabeth because you would have a wonderful story to tell your DD about how her brother picked her name! Why ruin that by twisting the name and changing it into something different and, frankly, not as nice?

Another though - would you consider another form of Elizabeth such as my DD's MN - Elise?

For me (and this is just my opinion), it's not that Elizabella doesn't work with Leila, it's that Elizabella wouldn't work with any name. I like some combo/"smooshed" names, but this one doesn't work for me because, whereas Elizabeth and Isabella are pretty and elegant, Elizabella is clunky. If I were determined to give my son a role in naming my daughter, but didn't really like his choice of name, I would ask him to give me a top-10 list of names he likes, and I'd see if I liked one of those. But that's what I would do. You should do what feels right to you. If you really love Elizabella, use it - most people don't really use their middle names in daily life, anyway, so it's not as though it would be a daily issue.

Thanks,

I just might use the name Elizabella as a middle name, but the way I am I am always comming up with new names, so who knows, it just might be Elizabeth at the end. I am just going crazy with so much to choose from. I should give this baby name search a break for a little bit, to clear my mind. :D

Thanks

Just a thought but what if you have another daughter and want to use Isabella(or Elizabeth) at that point? The reason I bring this up is because I used my second favorite name for my dd's middle name and I really wish I would have given her another name that I loved but saved Katherine kwim? Now I can't use a name I would love to use as a first name. My thought would be to use one and to save one rather than using a combo but never having either of them in full... Did that make sence:)
Good Luck!
