What is your opinion on giving your baby 2 first names PLUS a middle name?

We are (hopefully) adopting a baby in Febuary. It will be a domestic adoption and we'd like the birthmother's input on a middle name. However, I have had a girl's name in my head forever. If it's a girl (we're hoping to not find out the sex til he/she is born), we want to name her after our grandmothers, Marcella and Grace - Ella Grace. Since we want to honor the birthmother, who likes the name Julia, do you think it would be too much to name the baby Ella Grace Julia lastname? Ella Grace (or EllaGrace or Ella-Grace) would be the entire first name. The way I see it, years ago, 2 first names was pretty common, especially with the name Mary - like Mary Ellen, Mary Kate, etc. I kind of like the idea of calling her Ella Grace, too, instead of just Ella or Grace/Gracie, although I'm sure we will probably to that sometimes. What do you HONESTLY think of this?

Now, for a boy's name - we are just clueless! We have lots of choices, but none that really stick out. I like Emmanuel because it means "God is with us", but everyone else thinks it's weird or they want to call him Manny. Everytime I'm in the snack aisle at the store, I see Manny's tortilla chips and I cringe! Or I hear there's a character named Handy Manny!

Anyway, any input on 2 first names?

I think Ella Grace is a very sweet name and I love the family connection for you. I think adding Julia would be lovely and a great way to honor the bm. I'm a fan of double names, but I don't think that it's necessary to use a hyphen or smash the names together. I think Ella Grace Julia is great and you just call her Ella Grace.

Congrats on the adoption!

I think double names are fine, even w/ a separate middle name. Ella Grace is lovely and while I don't love the flow w/ Julia, the sentiment is great and she'll hopefully appreciate the connection down the road.
If you really don't like Manny, I'd save Emmanuel for the mn spot, it's pretty inevitable that people will call him that. You could correct people, but he may decide down the road that he wants to be called that.

If you were just pulling names out of thin air, Ella Grace Julia would be too long for me and doesn't have the best flow.
