What is everyones opinions on using two middle names? The first of the two middle names would be a Scottish name (Scottish family roots) and the second, a family name. The first name of the baby would just be a name we both like. Our last name is 1-syl. To give you an idea, I like Samuel Seamus James **** James is my father's name. I also like Maxwell David Reed. (order of mn switched- David is the family name). Would it be too much?

It's entirely up to you & it's not really that big of a deal but, since you asked, I'm actually not crazy about 2 mns. I don't even know why except that maybe I feel it's too long to have 2 mns.

I can't say I feel really strongly either way. Personally, I seriously doubt I would consider using two middle names, simply because it seems unneccessary. Most people rarely even use their one middle name. And I fear that it might get excessively long, particularly for girls who might want to keep their maiden name in addition to a married name as an adult. However, if you have personal/family reasons for using all three, I say go for it.

You need to do what sounds and feels ok to you. Samuel Seamus James or Maxwell David Reed would both be nice names. I know that when they take some tests etc..

I think it is a matter of personal preference. With my first two kids my ex and I used 2 MN's ( one being my maiden name ~ we were not married and I wanted my name in their name)
With my Dh our son does not have 2 MN's but the DD we are expecting in Feb will have 2 middle names cause we both wanted to use our mother's names as MNs.
His son from his 1st marriage only has one middle name.

I like the second combo much better, there are too many s's in the first combo. A name I had picked out for a boy was Joseph James and last name that ends with an S. I thought what if he has a lisp? That would sound funny. But don't worry about 2 middle names. My DH has 2 middle names, and it sounds nice.
