A local newspaper here in Ontario (a small community) gives every one a chance to post their baby's picture that was born in 2006. I thought I'd post the names. There's a few repeats, lol.

I'm not sure if I'd say the town is mostly conservative, maybe in naming their children, lol. There's definitely different classes around. A few of the names that do seem different to me or we just don't hear them around here -
Foster
Holden
Camden
Ireland
Xavier
Chase
Emmerson
There's nothing wrong with these names and I am used to them from being on this board but they just aren't used very often in this area. If I had never been on this board then I may frown upon these names. I'm glad to say that the names we have picked out for this little one weren't on the list. :)

This list confirms my hunch that Olivia is becoming very trendy. I'm surprised Tyler is still holding on that strong.
Braxton -- did mom have Braxton-Hicks contractions and decided it was a great idea for a name?
Favorites from the list:
Brennan
Brooke
Elise
Eric
Erin
Foster
Hayden (b)
Lincoln
Jayla
Nolan
Rohan
Sydney
Skyler (g)
William
Xavier
AJ, enjoying life with C.
Looks like you're surrounded by babies named Alex- and Alyssa. LOL Oh, yeah, and don't forget all the Tylers! Did you notice five out of the eight (counting the "Tys") had J mns? Seems like they all just wanted to call them TJ. ;)
There were a few I liked a lot, and of course the usual assortment of classic/traditional and trendy/popular names, but I was surprised how many of these seemed straight from the 80s/90s. Lots of dated ones, KWIM? No wonder you want something less mainstream.
Thanks for sharing!

Fun! Here are the ones that I find particurally good/bad/or interesting:
Callum Robert-Ah, I love Callum!
Cordelia Brynn-Ooh, Cordelia is neat.
Foster Douglas-That's different. I like it.
Justin Arthur-I love that one.
Mathew Tyler James-Another 't' would be nice, but I really love this.
Owen Andrew-That's so handsome.
Rachel Niamh-Ah, why'd they waste Niamh in the mn spot?!
William David-I love it.
Zachary Ivan-Cool, I like that.
Quinn Cassidy and Sadie Elisabeth-I guess that Quinn is a girl? These would be neat for b/g twins.
Thanks for sharing!
I didn't notice the Tyler's that had J mn's. I was surprised when I saw all the Tyler's. I thought this name had passed already considering I have a 14 year old nephew named Tyler and the boy who babysits for us occasionally across the road is 14 and Tyler as well. I guess when I think about it, wherever you go there does always seem to be one. I find people are resorting back to the 80's for names. My sister-in-law has a few friends that had babies late in the year and they were named Allison, Lindsay... I definitely want something different from these kind of names. We have settled on names and it's nice to know they won't be 1 of several in their class unless they do get popular, but I don't think so, not around here, anyhow. :)

Does that mean you've settled back on Emera, Terra, or is there a new favorite? ;)

I kicked Emera out of the picture as soon as I found out I was pregnant. Believe it or not, every time I thought of the name I wanted to throw up, not sure why but that's the way it was. I guess it didn't help my 24/7 nausea either, lol. We've chosen names and we haven't told anyone and I REALLY want to keep it that way. I don't want to hear anything about the names at all until the baby's here but I will share the sex of the baby when we find that out. ;)
