My husband and I want a name that is not too common, but doesn't sound made up. The middle name is Nakai of Hawaiian heritage, it's my middle and has been passed down from my mothers side. Pronounced Na'keye.
We would like something feminine yet sophisicated. Here is our list. Feel free to make suggestions! :)

Sophia Nakai (too popular/ nn, Sophi)
Lillian Nakai (nn, Lily / too LLLL sounding? My son is Logan)
Morgan Nakai (becoming pupular / unisex)
Brianne Nakai (after my husband, Brian / nn, Bree)
Savana Nakai (no nickname! / very southern? / sounds elaborate?)

I think every child at some point has a nick name, and so that is a definite consideration for me :) ~ Thanks again

Sophia Nakai - so popular, although nice. I prefer Sophie nn Soph
Lillian Nakai - You wouldn't believe how popular this name is becoming. She'll be one of 5 in her class!
Morgan Nakai- I think that next to Logan it would sound like 2 brothers instead of a brother and a sister
Brianne Nakai - I like this name a lot. Very sweet
Savana Nakai - LOVE this name. Could use Annie/Ann/Ana as a nn. Its so beautiful.

Here are some to consider...
Shannon
Marissa
Lila --> similar to Lillian but not so popular, and more elegant I think
Emmaline
Annalise
Jade
Corinne/Corinna
Rebecca
Candace
Larissa
Kristen
Felicity
Naomi
Jane
Shae
Reina
Taryn

I love Taryn, Jane, and Felicity with Logan.

Out of your list, my favorite is Savana. I agree you could use the nn Ana. In fact, I like Ana Nakai better as the whole name. And I think it goes great with Logan. Lily is cute with Logan too, but I agree that it's very popular. More so than Sophia in my area. And Morgan goes so well with Logan that I would think they were two brothers at first.

Good luck deciding. I love that the mn has been passed down through generations!

Sophia Nakai (too popular/ nn, Sophi) - you're right about this being popular, but still a nice choice

Lillian Nakai (nn, Lily / too LLLL sounding? My son is Logan) - the nn Lily is becoming popular, but not Lillian in particular that I'm aware of (many use simply Lily or some other form of it, such as Liliana, Eliana, Lilias, Lilith, etc.). I don't think it is too LLLL sounding ;) although I don't usually like sibling names that have the same sound/beginning letter (the 3 syllables as opposed to two in Logan might help)

Morgan Nakai (becoming pupular / unisex) - if you're worried about Morgan being unisex, you could consider the very-similar but strictly feminine Morrigan (pronounced basically the same, but with an extra half-syllable or so because of the i in the middle ... Morr-i-gan). I think this looks much prettier and more feminine anyway, and you definitely won't see a boy with this one

Brianne Nakai (after my husband, Brian / nn, Bree) - I don't like how Brianne ends with the N sound and runs into the beginning of Nakai, KWIM, but I do like that it's in honor of your husband. Perhaps use a different, less-known form of Briana you may not have considered? My favorite is Breila. ;) Just a thought!

Savana Nakai (no nickname! / very southern? / sounds elaborate?) - again, I don't like the repeating Na sound at the end of Savannah and beginning of Nakai. Sounds a bit too "stutterey" if that's even a word (don't think so LOL). A similar name you might like but that wouldn't pose that problem is Savarah

HTH! ;)

My favourite from your list:

I like Sohpia, but it is too popular! Have you thought about Josephine? Very feminine and sophisticated. nn's include: Josie - (similar to Sophie!), Joey, Joe, Jose, Jody, Fifi, Fina . It was ranked 267th in popularity for females of all ages of 2000-2003. So not too popular.
I like how it flows with your mm - Josephine Nakai

Like someone on the post before said, Lillian is getting popular, especially the name Lily. You could make a variation on the name eg: Lilliana or Lillia, or even Lavinia.
I think These flow better with Nakai. - Lilliana Nakai, Lillia Nakai, Lavinina Nakai.

Just some thoughts - HTH
Good Luck

Hi there, Denise. Congrats on your second baby!

I like your son's name. It's simple, masculine, & works well for any age. Lets keep up the good work.

The mn that you have chosen is beautiful. Here are my thoughts on the fn list:

Sophia Nakai (too popular/ nn, Sophi)-Sophia Nakai is really pretty, but it is extreamly popular.

Lillian Nakai (nn, Lily / too LLLL sounding? My son is Logan)-I love Lillian/Lily, but it's rather popular as well. Lillian & Logan are a bit much, but Lily & Logan are actually really cute.

Morgan Nakai (becoming pupular / unisex)-Yeah, I don't like Morgan much for a girl. Morgan & Logan could really be two boys or two girls or one of each. It just seems best to stick w/a clearly feminine name.

Brianne Nakai (after my husband, Brian / nn, Bree)-That's fine. It's not my favourite, but it's okay. I actually prefer Briana though.

Savana Nakai (no nickname! / very southern? / sounds elaborate?)-Eh, it's not my favourite. Savannah looks like the more natural spelling though.

Lillian is definitly my favourite, but Sophia is lovely as well. Here are some suggestions that are not too common, feminine, & sophisticated: (& that work w/Logan!)

Annabel maybe nn Annie

Amelia maybe nn Mia

Amelie

Clara

Celia maybe nn Celie

Eva maybe nn Evie

Eve maybe nn Evie

Fiona

Gabrielle

Gabriella

Gemma

Hope

Ivy

Juliet

Julianna

Juliana

Kiara

Kira

Karina

Lucy

Lucia maybe nn Lucie

Liliana maybe nn Lily

Mia

Maya

Marina

Rose maybe nn Rosie

Rosalie maybe nn Rosie

Stella

Talia

Violet maybe nn Vivi or Lettie

Victoria maybe nn Vivi

Hope this helps!

Lily Nakai or Sophia Nakai sound the best. "Lillian" is pretty but doesn't flow with Nakai as nicely as just "Lily"

They are all pretty choices, cannot go wrong! Good luck! I am in the same boat, pregnant and no name finalization yet!
