37 weeks...can't decide on a name
| Mon, 01-22-2007 - 5:42pm |
Our older DS is Luke (Lucas), and we have a two-syllable last name. The ONLY two names DH and I agree on are Ava and Emily, but (a) I'm concerned about the popularity and (b) can't pick which one I like the best of those two.
I don't really want a name that is so popular, but I don't know what to do if those are the only two we like! Not only that, but I can't even pick which one I like better out of those two!
The middle name will be Jewell, honoring my recently-deceased grandmother. This is not up for negotiation as I know it is what I want to do!
Please help, this baby could come any time!

Between your two, I like Ava better. Have you cosidered Eve or Eva? Both of those are less common.
How about Aveline or Emmeline with Ava or Emily as nicknames?
I love both names, but agree with other posters that they are really popular right now.
Also love nat_c's suggestion of Evelyn.
AJ, enjoying life with C.
Ava and Emily are both beautiful names. I think Emily might be more popular though than Ava. I agree with one of the other responses. I think Ava Jewell matches better. Ava sounds more glamorous and sophisticated and so does Jewell. Emily sounds cutsie, sweet, and little girlish. Therefore, it depends which style you like better for a girl.
Other names that are more unique:
Averie Jewell
Addyson Jewell
Veronica Jewell
Vivian Jewell
Olivia Jewell
Ella Jewell
Alaina Jewell
Amber

I'm sorry to be posting twice. My first post was pre-reading-other-posts, this one is after.
Of the two, I'd go with Emily. I think it sounds better with Jewel, it's classic (NOT trendy. Ava may disappear in a decade or two, but mothers will continue to name their daughters Emily regardless of the trend), and I think it will flow better with a two-syllable last name. And, since it's one of the few names you and your DH agree on, the more power to you.
