Please tell me what you think of the girl's name Aaliyah. My dh and I were originally planning to name our dd Chandler Aaliyah, but lately we've been tossing around the idea of using Aaliyah as a first name. My mother thinks we should pick Aaliyah, so our dd won't get teased for having a "boy" name, even though Chandler is in fact a unisex name. What do you think? Chandler or Aaliyah? If you think my dh and I should go with Aaliyah, do you have any middle name ideas?

Thanks for your help!

I think it's a beautiful name. My sister's best friend is the only girl I know with that name, and she's "Aaliyah Renee".

Aaliyah is a great name but I prefer the spelling Alia which is more short and sweet.

Chandler works fine as a mn but other options are...

Aaliyah Candace

Aaliyah Selene

Aaliyah Nicole

Aaliyah Claire

I think Aaliyah is pretty, and its much better than Chandler. Just because there are some girls named Chandler doesn't mean its unisex....I know a girl named Michael but I still consider Michael to be a boys name. But anyways, I like the suggestions of spelling it Alia or Aleah, and I think Aaliyah Jade/Nicole is a nice name.

I like Aaliyah, I know one girl with this name and she spells it this way.

Personally I like this spelling. As far as middle names go, the girl I know is Aaliyah Rose.

I think you should go with Aaliyah Chandler, since you obviously like both names. Well, you didn't ask this but I think it should be spelled Aliyah. The two "a" thing is seems awkward -- it was good for the late R&B singer, but it's prettier this way, imho. Nice name, though.

Hi!

I like Aaliyah with its original spelling. In the list of Hebrew names, Aaliyah was listed with 2 A's.

Someone else suggested Aaliyah Rose. I think that fits together nicely. I like Aaliyah Faith too.

I like Aaliyah a lot more than Chandler for a girl. Aaliyah is very pretty, very feminine. I've seen several other spellings, Aleya, Aliya, Alia. Not sure which I like the best, they're all fine.

anyhow. you could just switch them, Aaliyah Chandler, but I don't really think they match up in style very well.

here are some thoughts:

Aaliyah Brianne, Aaliyah Corinne, Aaliyah Caitlin, Aaliyah Dominique, Aaliyah Desiree, Aaliyah Gisele, Aaliyah Janelle, Aaliyah Joelle, Aaliyah Janae, Aaliyah Javonne, Aaliyah Kristin, Aaliyah Kirstin, Aaliyah Kaitlin, Aaliyah Michelle, Aaliyah Monique, Aaliyah Maureen, Aaliyah Nicole, Aaliyah Noelle, Aaliyah Paige, Aaliyah Renee, Aaliyah Shea, Aaliyah Tennette.

I'd avoid As and Ls for middle name starters.

good luck.

I like the name Aaliyah a lot, much better than Chandler, actually. One suggestion, though...I am guessing that Aaliyah is the proper spelling of the name, but
