Alright - my husband and I have wanted to name our first daughter Addison for years. We live in Chicago and lived right off a street called Addison (which borders Wrigley Field - so hubby loves that part) It has good memories for us <3 So it has nothing to do with Grey's Anatomy:)
Anywho - how popular is that name around you? I see that it is rising in popularity, but I don't personally know any. I even teach preschool and have never heard it...
Opinions....Thanks!

It sounds like it would be a pretty trendy girls' name...Baby Name Wizard has it ranked at 27 in 2006.

Personally, though, I don't like -son names for girls at all, since the literal meaning of the name would be "SON of..."

I think that it is gaining popularity, like you said, but it isn't overly popular yet. Have you gone on the most popular name list for 2006? Usually if a name is on there, it will be on there again this year.

Anyway, I know a girl who named her little girl Addison Grace (she was just born in April). I LOVE the name!! I had put it down on my own list, but my husband isn't crazy about it. Oh well....

Good Luck!

I know one little Addison; she's about a year and half old. I'm not a big fan of the name, partly because it sounds so much like Madison, and partly because an Addison is likely to be an Addie, which runs together with all the other Addies and Maddies (Madison, Madelyn). If you're looking for Wrigley-Field-inspired names, you could also consider Ivy, which I really like.

Sorry - I forgot to add: 364 little Addisons were born in Illinois in 2006, per SSA, which made it the 20th most popular girls' name in Illinois that year. In 2005, it was #82 with 175 baby Addisons (girls). So, while it's popular in the ranking sense, there really aren't all that many little Addisons in your state, when you consider the total population of Illinois.

Too close to the WAY over-used Madison, to me...

It's rapidly moving up in popularity in the last year or two, so those Addisons haven't hit preschool yet.
