Hello! I appreciate any advice you can offer!

This is my first child and possibly my last - ha! My husband has two son's from a previous marriage that we have full custody of. My husband and his kids all have odd names (DH - Reade and the boys are Chandler and Chase). He is pretty adament that he doesnt want a nice normal name like Matthew or Christopher and he wanted a CH name to match the boys but I dont want to do that. This is MY baby and I dont want to give it a CH name just to match his. So what we thought of and life for a boy is:

Owen James (I thought of this... now my husband LOVES it and it set on it)
or possibly Shane Patrick

For a girl were set on Kara Rose. My mom is deceased and her name was Kathy and his mom's name is Laura so we came up with KARA - KA for my mom and RA for his. Rose was my mom's middle name. So thats nice right?

Thanks.. this baby really means alot to all of us ( the kids too!) so we're all really excited about him/her. I keep hearing or seeing the name Owen all over the place so I take that as some sort of sign from my mom. I never noticed it before and now I see it someplace or will hear someones first or last name being Owen numerous times a week! I am a much more tradiational person but I like the name Owen for some reason. James is my fathers middle name too!

I love your name choices & agree you shouldn't have another CH child.

I like both Owen & Shane.

I also really like the meaning behind Kara. Good job!

I absolutely love the significance of Kara. What a special way for her to share a legacy with her grandmothers. And Kara Rose is a lovely name.

I like both Owen James and Shane Patrick. All four of those names are great. (Two of them - James and Patrick -- are on my personal list for future sons.)

With Chase and Chandler, I'd avoid Shane. The Ch-Ch-Sh combination is a bit much for me. I think it might wind up being a tongue twister. Owen is VERY popular right now, but that doesn't make it bad. (In fact, it means lots of people like it!) If you want to set it apart more, you could go with a less-common middle name. Or you could use Patrick as a first name, since that's a lot less popular right now. Patrick Owen is a fantastic combination.

In any case, I think you've got some great names and you really can't go wrong. Good luck!

You have wonderful taste, I love all the names you selected. I definately agree with you abotu avoiding a CH- name, and getting Kara Rose from your mom is beautiful. What nice choices!

LOVE Owen James. Nice strong name. Great choice. You might also like Rowan, Ronan, Evan or Gavin which have the same feel but avoid the O.J. initials. But who really cares about that...?

Kara is not my style but of course honoring the moms is sweet. But you do have a lot of options using Laura, Kathy and Rose!

Laura-Kate as a fn
Lauren Kathryn
Laurel Rose
Rosalyn Kate
Allura Kate

The kaRA ROse is R-heavy...has that ruh-ro sound in the middle which you might want to avoid.

Good luck!
