Alezander - Spelling look funny????

My husband and I are having Baby #3, and he said that since he picked the name of our last son, I could pick the name this time. I have chosen Drake Alexander. He's not crazy about Drake, although he won't admit it. He just keeps saying that he's gonna call him Zander. I asked him Xander? He says that 'X' names look too ethnic, so he was going to spell it Zander. Do you think that Alezander looks funny or made up???

Drake Alezander

P.S. I won't change it to Alezander Drake....(Alexander being to high on the top 100...I try to avoid that without taking it to the extreme).

Thanks,

April

um...it looks a little funny to me, not too bad, but definitely a little funny....Kind of reminds me of Hector Alizondo. And I think Alezander looks just as ethnic as Xander.

Best of luck to you!

Yes, Alezander looks funny, in fact, I'd pronounce it differently.

Sorry, but Alezander looks like you don't know how to spell or you made a typo. Spell it Alexander, but still call him Zander if you like. Plenty of nicknames don't mimic the spelling of the original name. Tom for instance, from Thomas.

Why do x names look "ethnic"? And whats wrong with being ethnic? I would pronounce Alezander differantly than Alexander, so I think you should stick with the original spelling, no matter what your husband wants to call him.

I think the traditional way is the way to go. Even if he calls him Zander-how many times will he actually write it? I am assuming that you and everyone else will still call him Drake.

What about Alexzander?

I know I've never seen that before and that'll fix both problems!

Yeah, sorry, it doesn't look right. One person was right when they said it looked like you had made a typo and didn't know how to spell it right. I like the look of Zander Drake too! Sounds very strong, could be the name of an actor!!!

To me...

Alezander is pronounced Al-eh-zander

Alexander is pronounced Al-ex-zander

SO they are different names. I prefere Alexander with nn Zander or Xander. Either nn is fine.

Will everyone call him Zander or just your DH?

I like the idea .. there was a character on General Hospital named Zander .. fans didn't find out for several years it was actually Alexander .. they just never had to spell it .. Xander I think is a big no no .. Zander (especially if you ever saw the GH character), hot : ) Good Luck : )

Just throwing in a vote w/ most of the other posters -- Alezander looks like you made a typo. Alexander is a strong, timeless name, top 100 or no : )

Funny about Drake -- we ran into one this morning, a 1 y/o little cutie!
