Alternate spellings (m)

I just wanted to give some information on alternate spellings that people without older children may not realize. I have a 6th grader, a 2nd grader and a preschooler so I see a lot of what is happening.

Now keep in mind that I'm not only talking about cre8tive spellings, but also common alternate spellings for names.

If you spell a name differently, but it still sounds the same as another spelling, teachers and classmates will consider it the same name. For example, my oldest DD has a Christina and a Khrystina in her class. They look different, but sound the same. Therefore one is Christina T and the other is Khrystina L. My 2nd grade DD has a Kate and a Cate in her class. They are Kate J and Cate M. My neighbor homeschools and her kids are in a study group with a Cheyanne M and a Shyann T. You get the idea.

I'm not giving opinions (heck, my daughter is "Vicky Z"!!). Just thought that I would share this information with people who think that different spellings guarantee uniqueness in the classroom.
