Hello!
I have a two year old daughter named Alyssa Eve. (I wanted to name her Alysia Eve, but my husband thought that sounded too different. And I relented, since I knew we were going to call her "Eve" anyway.)
Now, we are looking for a name for her baby sister. What do you think would sound right?
(My name is Amy, and my husband's name is Allan.)
So far, we have thought about
Audrey Elyse (may call her Elyse)
Avery Mariah
Aubrey Eliza
What do you think? We are open to any/all suggestions. I like old-fashioned names and would like to avoid anything overly popular.
Since the three of us all have names that begin with an "A" I worry about choosing a different first initial for the new baby. (Although, my daughter doesn't go by her first name, so maybe it doesn't matter.) My husband's initials are AAS; my initials and Eve's initials are AES.
Thank you for any ideas you are willing to share!
Amy

I'd give the new baby a different first initial for this very reason. As it is now, you only have one child with an A name. You and your dh don't count ... after all, you didn't get to name yourselves. That's just a coincidence. However, if you continue the pattern and give every single child an A name, then you do have a definite, cutesy pattern. "Cheesiness" aside (for lack of a better term), that can also be annoying in day-to-day life, when you're trying to call one child and the rest all come running, when you have to deal with mix-ups at school or hassels with the insurance company when they don't want to cover yet another round of the MMR vaccine for A. Smith (when, in fact, it was your older dd they'd already covered), things like that, KWIM?
The fact that your first dd goes by her mn anyway only strengthens that opinion. It's not like you already have children who go by Alyssa, Avery and Audrey and feel like little Cora would feel left out. You only have one child, and the name she goes by begins with an E, so the "loss" of the pattern wouldn't really be apparent. My advice would be to move on to another letter.

Having all the kids' names start with the same letter can be confusing when you're trying to call one of them - we've all heard exasperated parents call their kids by the wrong name.

Some ideas.....
I like Audrey Elise best from your list.
Aubrey and Avery were both boy's names and are both trendy.
Audrey is more old fashioned.
