My husband is German American (third generation), last name Schwarz. We are considering naming our baby Fritz. We think we like it but feel like it could use a field test. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I have a BIL named Fritz - actually his name is Fred with nn Fritz. It's not a name I'd give one of my children, but if you love it go for it. Though I do think having it as a nn would be a little better than as a given name.

Good luck.

*I* think Fritz is a great name but when it's paired with your surname, it sounds quite 'Z' heavy to me. You could use Friedrich, nn Fritz or Frederick, nn Fritz more easily, though.
