This name combines all the necessary names needed to honor the people we want to in our family. Is it terrible?

I would also stay away from Apple! Even Gwyneth has taken a lot of heat for this name. I think a teenage girl or an adult would hate this name!! I would use May/Mae instead for sure.

I actually think it is really pretty! I know most people don't like it but I think it is beautiful and unusual. When Gwyneth Paltrow named her daughter that the press went crazy and everyone was talking about how it was a horrible name. I never understood how Apple could be so terrible. When you think about it, it has good connotations. An apple is clean, fresh, and tasty. How could the name Apple be worse than Pilot Inspektor or Moon Unit! I say go for it, you may get some negative feedback at first, but eventually everyone will love it!

I don't think I could ever take someone seriously who was named Apple...it's right up there with Muffin and Cookie - food names that sound cute until you're 6, then they just seem silly. I think Sarah Johanna Apple sounds much better.

Humor me, please. My 9 year old son and 7 year old daughter sometimes like to play along when I answer baby name posts.

From Grantson, age 9- "I think that Sarah and Johanna are the some of the best girl names there are. I also think that it is good that you would name your little girl after the Appleton Parish, but what I think is that when she gets in school, people may make fun of her because her name is Apple. I wouldn't make fun of her but other kids might. I'd only name my child Apple if I were going to homeschool her. My advice to you is to go through other special names and try to come up with some more."

I read that another of your grandma's names is Mary. I love the names Mary, Sarah, and Johanna. My suggestion is to combine the first two to make one first name. What do you think of Marah? (I pronounce it Mah-ruh but you could pronounce it any way you like) I think Marah Johanna would be absolutely lovely. (I am also pronouncing Johanna Jo-hann-uh. I really love that pronunciation.) I think the two names sound best together pronounced Mah-ruh Jo-hann-uh or Mare-uh Jo-hah-nuh. Think about it! :o)

Lots of Luck!

Leave Apple out and it'll be okay. And, would you have used the name Apple if Gwenneth Paltrow hadn't brought it up?????

I veto the Apple as well--- tho, the name Greene is a family name in my family and that is my dad's 1st name, i have always thought it would make a beautiful mn for a boy or girl...tho, my father who was given a 'family name' of Greene Herbert Gardner... did not like his name and to this day goes by Herb Gardner! Can you imagine being either, least of which a fruit? even so, my dad always says, don't ever do something like that to your child, let them have their own name to live by... but i still really like Greene as a mn for boy or girl or as a fn for a girl...and there's that cool Joni Mitchell song. "Little Green"...
How would you pronounce Johanna? Yo-hanna-- Yo-hannah- or Jo-anne-ah...i think i prefer Mary-Sarah or Johanna Mary, or Johanna Sarah...
