Are they really that bad??

I'm due in August and I have different names picked out. So far though, nobody but my hubby and I like them. I think they are nice and unique... but I'm getting comments from everyone on how I should change my choices...
For a boy I like Ronan Michael
And for a girl Logan Marie

I think Ronan Michael is FABULOUS :) You did a great job... it is unusual, yet a 'real' name (not trendy/madeup). Love it.
Logan Marie is nms. Marie is fairly common and boring as a mn, so unless it is a family name, I would use something else. Logan is all boy to me.

LOL I was expecting some horrible names! :) Of course Logan is a unisex name these days, so that may be a problem for some people...but who cares! Your husband and you like the names; that's all that matters. Nobody looks at a precious baby and says, "Ugh, her name is awful!" (even though the ones you've picked are not!)
Good luck!

I like both actually. I can sort of see why they are saying its weird. Its not a very common name but its not unheard of or made it. I love Logan for a little girl I know 2 actually one is about 6 and the other is 3. They are both precious little girls. Most ppl think of it as a both name but "boy" names for girls are growing in popularity. Good luck with whatever you choose. Just remember this is YOUR baby not anyone else's you can name him/her whatever you want.

Actually, I think the point was that Logan used for a girl is anything but original. It IS a "normal popular" name, part of a huge trend of using the more trendy/popular male names for females -- Logan, Mason, Aidan, Jadon, Caden, Braden (notice the trend toward two-syllable masculine names, often with Celtic roots, ending in the N sound?). Add to that the more general gender-bender names like Madison (top ten, as you already mentioned), Addison, Emerson, Avery, Mackenzie, McKenna, etc. and you have a pretty popular grouping of names.
Don't get me wrong ... I'm not against using traditionally masculine names for girls in the least. I've realized it's the collective usage of certain male names as crossover names that slightly bugs me. In other words, the trendiness of it, unrelated to gender issues. If you want to choose a "different" name for your daughter, and prefer a masculine one, that's great.
One woman here has a little girl named Elliott, and I actually find that refreshing. She didn't simply take one of the already-trendy boy names and use it for a girl. In fact, it's not even in the top 1000 on the girls' side!
So I really don't think the point was simply that most don't like Logan for a girl, but that it seemed the OP thought she had chosen more unique names -- and liked it that way -- and some of us were trying to point out that Logan for either gender was actually pretty popular and not that different at all. In fact, it's very likely that in ten years there WILL be quite a few little girl Logans, Masons, Aidans, etc. in the same classroom. And all their parents will be wondering how everyone somehow managed to "steal" their apparently-not-so-different idea. ;)

I really, really like the name Ronan. I think it's very different, but not so far off the wall that people will think it's weird. It's really cute.
Logan is just okay for me. I definitely think of it as a boy's name and a girl's name, but it just isn't my cup of tea. But if you like it, and your husband likes it, that's what should matter most.
HTH.
