are you using your own name for baby?

Is anyone using their first name or SO's name for your baby? I was thinking of using my name as a middle name. Not because I really like it, but because it goes well with the first name that we have picked. I don't know how I feel about it though. I would rather use someone else's name to honor them instead of myself. Should I really make that big of a deal about it if we both like the sound of the name? WDYT?

I think if it sounds and flows well and both you and your SO love it then go for it! I'm sure baby will feel proud to have mommy's name in hers! JMHO :)

I think that if you like the idea of sharing your name as a family name, you should go for it, but I wouldn't do it if that aspect is unimportant (or even uncomfortable) for you and you just like the flow.
I think the importance of name flow is overrated unless you plan to actually call the child by both names. In my family and most of my experience, middle names aren't actually used that way... they are written on forms and sometimes used alone if preferred over the first name. I would therefore choose something that you like in its own right for the middle name, and make name flow a secondary consideration.

hello!! if i liked a name, i would use it, period. (as long as i had dh on board with me ,too-lol) i havent honored anyone with my 2 kids names-violet rose and isabelle grace-i picked rose cuz roses remind me of summer and she was born in summer...i picked grace to give glory to God...but as far as their names-my hubby and i both liked them-so we went with them. now-if i have another baby-im leaning towards joseph blake for a boy and alexis anne for a girl...joseph is my hubbys middle name and anne would be after me, my greatgrandmother, my mom and my mother in law!! (my mom and mils middle name is ann) like i said though, if you like a name, then use it...one of my family members named her dd after herself so my cousin has been little linda her whole life and she doesnt mind it-so i dont see the big deal... and if someone has something negative to say, its your kid, your choice-remember that;-)take care!!

We are naming our son Bryson for my DF whos name is Bryan. We are giving our DD my moms middle name Kay. And our third will probably be named after my aunt Nancy. But it depends on what we decide as a first name. We will either use my aunts first name(nancy) as a middle name or my aunts middle name. Not sure yet.

We considered my middle name and DH's first/middle names as possible middle names for our children. (My first name, Stephanie, doesn't generally flow well as a mn.) Since we have two girls, we haven't had a chance to use DH's names, and we just happened to like other family names better than my mn with the names we chose.
I'm not personally a big fan of making a child a Junior by giving him/her the same first name as one of the parents, but I have no problem with putting a parent's name in the mn slot.

This is a fairly common practice in my family. My parents used their first names as the middle names for myself and my brother. When I was a kid I thought it was sort of lame, but now it doesn't bother me.
My kids all have names that came from my family.
My first is Jack Gerald. Jack is a name I love and Gerald is his fathers mn and his grandfathers first name.
Then I have Katelynn Yvonne. Kate is a name I love then I added lynn which is my aunts middle name (Janet Lynn) and her first daughters middle name (Jeannie Lynn). Yvonne is my first name and my maternal grandmothers mn (Marvel Yvonne)
Next is Krysten Marie. Krysten is a name i love and Marie is my moms middle name (Linda Marie) and the middle name of my aunt Janets third daughter (Lisa Marie).
After that is Noah David. Noah is not a name I loved or even liked until he turned 1. I picked it because I couldn't find any name and we were still in the hospital from my c-section and the birth certificate lady was bugging me and he was already 4 days old, so, I pulled out the baby name book and my 3 kids picked it. Now, I am so happy with it!! The kids made a better choice than I would have. David is my uncle who passed away. My uncle was my moms best friend and he lived with us when he was sick before he died. I was 12 at the time.
and not last for long is Kara Mae. My DH picked Kara and I went with it. Mae is my other aunts middle name (Julie Mae) and my aunt Janets second daughter (Holly Mae)
This last baby if it is a boy we will use my DH name, either it will be Michael Andrew (his name is Michael and Andrew I just like, could change) or we like Cameron Michael. If this baby is a girl we are so LOST!! I am out of family...lol I like the name Ohana, means family, and this will be our last baby to tie the "family" together. I just am lost on a mn for Ohana. but then I think maybe I should pick a "K" name to match my other three girls...okay, I am rambling, can you tell I am pg? lol
