Argh! Starting from scratch! :(

Ok, so I'm venting a bit here, but also looking for *yet more* suggestions! As many of you know, we had about a page-long list of middle names we were considering for Abigail. Well today Jason and I were discussing them and he says (you'll love this) ... "You know, I've been thinking about the names a lot and I just don't think any of them really 'goes' with Abigail - I think we should start looking for some more." Argh! And here I thought we had already looked at every single name in exsistence! lol But seriously, anyone else's dh pull this last minute change of heart (ok, not terribly last minute, we're about 7 months along, but last minute enough!)? Guess I'm off to look for names on more sites/books/billboards/phone books ... whatever at this point. lol If you've got a suggestion for Abigail "Danger" McCormick (kidding lol), please post! Thanks all!

No Genevieve? :( I'm sorry, that must be frustrating. I haven't the time to come up with suggestions at the moment, but wanted to express my sympathy.

Good luck.

Thanks Erin.

His comment on Genevieve (one of my favorites, as you know!) was that while he liked the name "in theory" and that it was pretty, it reminded him too much of "King Arthur" and that it would be strange to use such an old name now (need I remind him Abigail is Biblical? lol). Talk about frustrating! :(

Back to my search ...

Abigail is a very pretty name. I never saw the MN's that were listed, but what about Abigail Marie or Abigail Rose. Those are 2 that I think go really well together. Hope it helps a little!

Sorry, Andrea ... I've been posting so often, I shouldn't have assumed everyone had seen them all though. ;)~

Our other daughter's are Kaitlyn Abrielle and Devanie Rose (so Rose is out for this one lol), and our last name is McCormick (so most M names don't flow well).

Some other "stipulations" making this difficult ... we'd like to avoid a hard C/K sound mn since Abigail is close to Abrielle (and a K sound mn would sound even more like a reversal of our oldest's name, KWIM?), and now dh has said he also wants to avoid any -lyn ending middle names for the same reason (too similar for his taste).

Claire and Sadie were originally our top mn choices (before we picked her first name), but since Abigail is so popular at the moment we wanted something a bit less common (the other girls also have a popular name/less common name combo ... Kaitlyn and Rose being more common and Abrielle and Devanie much less so).

The newer mns we were considering (in the poll below) we Genevieve, Isla, Fiona, Ainslie, Anora, Breila, Bronia, Erienne, Emlyn and Imogen (added and subtracted - by dh - in a single day lol). There was also a whole slew of others, all of which he also nixed, but those were the more "serious" considerations lol.

Anyway, hope that was enough background (maybe too much? lol Sorry!). Thanks again for trying though! :)

Oh, good, Andrea ... glad to see I'm not the only one who can't sleep anymore. LOL

Being as I'm an insomniac and all (LOL), I'll take a quick run-through of your much-appreciated list: ;)

Abigail Aaralynn McCormick - vetoed by dh! (-lyn ending ... Jay now says even that's too similar to Kaitlyn lol)

Abigail Adah (means beautiful addition-awwww) - I'm a sucker for great meanings, so I really like this (although from today's experience, I hold out little hope)

Abigail Ayanna - also vetoed!

Abigail Anissa - ditto (along with most short A type names ... although he made one concession which I will adress at the end - don't peek! lol)

Abigail Arwen - vetoed when I suggested it when pregnant with Devanie

Abigail Avalon - vetoed early on this time around

Abigail Beatrice (means bringer of joy and Abigail is father's joy so its kinda saying bringer of father's joy) (Betrys is Welsh spelling) - another family name we can't use (although the combined meanings are neat ... always said you were good! lol)

Abigail Brigitte - can't use ... don't wanna admit why (tehe)

Abigail Danae - bad association

Abigail Doreen - family name

Abigail Eavan - love this last time and tried to sneak it in this time, but he nixed it!

Abigail Eloise - too L-heavy (although I did try to get away with Isla lol)

Abigail Evette - I'll admit, not my fav ;)~

Abigail Fabienne - had a mean professor named this lol

Abigail Francine - nms

Abigail Geneva (still try to sneak it in :D) - he nixed all things even remotely related to Genevieve, Genevie, Guinevere, Gwyneth, Gwendolen, etc. Argh!

Abigail Georgette - just not me ... although my grandfather's name is George, so it's cute

Abigail Ione - have an Iona

Abigail Isla - one of my favorites, as you probably remember (so thanks for trying to sneak it in LOL), but he didn't like all the L sounds :(

Abigail Ivette - vetoed!

Abigail Jeanette - an ex! rofl

Abigail Joelle/a - Since he's being so difficult, I will not use a J name (would give her his initials in reverse ROFL ... is that petty of me?) ;)

Abigail Nadine - not my fav.

Abigail Natalia - oddly enough, I never liked the Natalie-type names (I know I'm alone in this, and I can't explain why - just don't do it for me LOL)

Abigail Noreen - he also nixed anything with the "nor" sound in them (I had a few because I really like Nora lately LOL) ... although he did concede that Nora(h) itself was "just ok"

Abigail Raisie (but thats a diminutive of Rose so prolly too close to dd) - I know! Having that problem a lot lately

Abigail Ranae - bad association on my part here (another time maybe lol)

Abigail Rhoslyn - too close to Rose as well IMO

Abigail Saeran - he nixed this and Seren (which means star and her room is all moons and stars ... awwww! lol)

Abigail Selia - added to my new list!

Abigail Sheridan - wow! he nixed this back with Kaitlyn ROFL

Abigail Simone - nms

Abigail Suzette (means little lily so you'd have a lily n a rose :D) - nms ... although when I suggested Briallen (primrose) and Violet he said we couldn't name two of them after flowers lol

Abigail Valerie - an ex again!

Abigail Vevina - not my fav.

Abigail Vivienne - he nixed it!

Abigail Wynne - too incomplete, and probably nixed along with the Gwen names

Abigail Yvette - nms

Abigail Yvonne - nms

Whew! Figured as long as you took the type to type it all I should respond in kind. (Did get an addition out of it though, so thanks!). ;)~

Now for my teeny little update. Just got off the phone with Jay (working tonight), and I think he felt bad about making me start all over like that. Anyway, he said something to the extent of "I was thinking ... I know you liked Amelia when we were thinking of first names, and I thought maybe you'd like to use it as a middle name." Now I definitely would have thought that was too close to Abigail, especially with all his new stipulations, but he actually defended it and said he liked it anyway because Abigail is the short A and Amelia is more of the "uh" sound. Anyway, not making a decision or anything (definitely still looking) but I was *touched* that he was really putting some thought into this and willing to make a concession to me. What do you think? Abigail Amelia McCormick. Hmmm. Anyway, figured you'd be good for an honest opinion. ;)

Ok, better not make this any longer! LOL Thanks again for the suggestions!

My aunt had a baby about 2 years ago and her name is Abigail Lynee (with the aptrophe thing on the last e. (pronounced like Renee but iwth an L). You can change the spelling to how you like it: ie. Lynae, lenee, lenae. but they chose that becuase my uncle wanted Lynn and my aunt wanted Renee so they compromised. I love it beucase it sounds great with Abigail and its so original.

Those hubby's always messing things up! LOL

Anyway I read the previous posts & Abigail Amelia sounds very pretty. It's a keeper in my book. Just incase here are some options. Just a warning though...I'm not good at creative names!

Abigail Breanna
Abigail Brinley *
Abigail Chloe
Abigail Cora
Abigail Corinne
Abigail Delphine *
Abigail Daphne
Abigail Elysa/Elyse
Abigail Fiona
Abigail Gianna ***like this one***
Abigail Jade
Abigail Maren
Abigail Noelle/Noella
Abigail Paige **like this one too**
Abigail Scarlett
Abigail Siarra/Sierra/Ciara
Abigail Sienna
Abigail Valeria
Abigail Vanessa
Abigail Whitier (Whit-e-er from the movie Bring it On) LOL **like it

Okay I admit there are very few names that are popping put at me...Oh well, it was worth a spin. If Jason (also my dh name, he goes by Jake though) changes his mind again...make him sit and read all these posts on the message board. That ought to be punishment for any man!!

LOL Jodi! That's exactly what I should make him do! I even joked with him that at this point, we're going to end up with Abigail "Danger" McCormick. rofl

Love Cora, btw, but will never get to use it with ln McCormick. A lot of the others on your list have been previously vetoed by dh (getting tired of saying that ... didn't realize we'd looked through - and he'd rejected - so many lol).

The Amelia suggestion is growing on me, though. I agree it might be a mouthful/not fit all the criteria, etc., but I would get to use another name I love AND avoid her becoming Abigail Ann/Joy/Faith/Lee (insert common filler mn here lol). Not that there's anything wrong with any of those names (all in use on various people in my family - me included lol). Anyway, Abigail Amelia sound better and better to me by the minute. ;)

Thanks for the input/suggestions!

We have Abigail on our list and I can't think of the "perfect" middle name for it either!! I wouldn't want to use all the common ones like Rose, Leigh, Lynn, Elizabeth, etc, even though those sound perfect with it. Abigail is so common as it is, so i feel it needs a more unique middle name. I'll through some out that you might like, I like these, but not sure hubby could go for 'em or they are already in use in the fam!

Abigail Jade
Abigail Skye
Abigail Faith
Abigail Elise
Abigail Paige
Abigail Sage
Abigail Hope
Abigail Autumn
Abigail Renee
Abigail Tate
Abigail Lisette
Abigail Ryanne
Abigail Fawn
Abigail Brielle
Abigail Noelle/Noel
Abigail Joy
Abigail Lane
Abigail Suzanne

good luck,

Sunny
