Ashlan?

I was watching MTV's Made last night (I know, such a stupid show but I get hooked), and the Made coach was a beauty queen named Ashlan. I thought it was really different and I liked it immediately, but I can't find the name on babynames.com. Is it a real name? Do you think someone made it up? what do you think of it?

It is a real name. I know a girl named Ashlan, but she spells it "Ashlyn". I think it's a very nice name!

I love the name Ashlan! Absolutely love it! I also think I've seen it spelled Ashlyn. Do you have any boy names in mind in case?

Thank you! It's really starting to grow on me. I'm not so sure DH will go for it though.

Our boy name is a definite: Benjamin Edward (they're both family names)

The only girl name we've agreed on is: Lucy Annabella

I really like Lucy too, but I really, really love Ashlyn. Hopefully DH is on board! I also really like your boys name, I think you've got a pretty good handle on your names. Is this your first baby?

yes, this is our first baby :)

thanks for the compliment on the boy's name! our girl's name is for family names too but they are similar to family names, not the exact names....so i think that's why DH wants to hang on to them, which i totally understand...but sometimes names lose their sparkle for no reason, u know? we also have a younger cousin named ashley...it may be too similar but we don't see her often. i just think ashlyn/ashlan is so cute!!

I completely understand about names losing their sparkle! We are expecting in 3 wks. with our 2nd. and off the bat liked the name Granr, but all the sudden it didn't appeal to me at all. I don't know if it's hormones or what, but that is not what we ended up picking! Ashlyn/Ashlan and Ashley are similar but still different enough. Ultimately you will pick a name that has a place in your heart due to family connection or not! Have you asked DH about the name Ashlyn? What is his opinion?

I found out that Ashlan is actually the English name & spelling. I believe Ashlynn/Ashlyn is the one that's made up...if not, it's a variation bc Ashlan came first. I checked so many different sites bc I was determined to find out! :)
