It is funny you should mention this -- I just read a book and the author's first name was this. I had noticed it and thought that it was interesting. Not sure I like it that much though... Is that how you spell the lace that is pronounced like that?

It doesn't do much for me. I believe the lace is spelled eyelet, but the pronounciation would be the same I think, which is a bit on the weird side to me. If one were going to choose a type of lace, I would think Chantilly would be a better choice. ;-)

The book I read was 'Daughter's Keeper' by Ayelet Waldman. Her name really drew my attention to the book I think. The book was pretty good BTW. :)

I'm not a member so I can't "reply all".
Hmmm...I surprised that you guys aren't liking it not b/c of the name itself but b/c it reminds you of lace, especially when Lacey is a somewhat common name...and lace being not such a bad thing, ya know?

I thought of lace too. I'm definitely not a fan. (And I wouldn't name my daughter Lacey either, for the record. It's not that lace is a bad thing -- though it is rather frilly/cutesy, which is nms -- but I don't like names that are objects in general.)

I believe the pronunciation is actually more like I-yell-et, in three syllables, not Eye-let. The version of the name that I know is from Hebrew, and that's how they say it in Israel. I don't know if anyone here uses it and says it the lacey way - if anyone knows, I'm interested too.

I've only ever heard it pronounced like eye-el-ET as well (if that makes sense LOL ... I tried!). ;)
