Baby Boy #2

I am due to have a baby (probably a boy) on Christmas day. We have a difficult LN (Butanda) so I want something that everyone can read and pronounce easily. But I also don't want it to be too common. DH only likes that name Holden, which I think sounds like it's from a soap opera. I kind of like Tyler, Logan, and Roman, but am definately not set on any of them. Also, we are Hispanic, so I'm afraid that some names won't really suit the baby's look. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Well, I have to side with your DH, because I like Holden! I think Roman is the one that sounds a bit soap opera-ish, lol! And I wouldn't worry about the name not "fitting" your heritage, unless it's important to you that it does. In my experience, parents are dipping into all ethnic backgrounds to find names these days, so why not in reverse? I know our family has a Scottish background, but some of the names we have considered have been traditionally hispanic names, Hebrew names, etc. And I think Trevor is anglo-saxon of some sort, so you already have the ball rolling in that direction. I like Holden, or what about Nolan? That one popped into mind, followed by Noel, since he's a Christmas baby. (We're due in Dec. too!)

I'm with you on Holden - no go. Of your favorites, I think Roman flows best with Butanda. Plus, Roman can be pronounced easily in Spanish as well as English. Tyler and Logan seem too trendy for my taste - but if you like a certain name, don't worry about the name "matching" the look. These days, so much cross-cultural name sharing goes on, no one will blink an eye at a olive-complected Logan anymore than they would at a light-haired Andres. My oldest son looks Tongan, but his name is Solomon. Fits him perfectly.

All the best to you! Congratulations!

Love Holden or Roman, Tyler and Logan are too blah and trendy for me respectively. Either sounds fine with your last name.

I love the name Holden. It's true it is a soap opera character from As The World Turns. But it's also from Gone With The Wind, I believe.

Tyler and Logan are much more common than Holden. In fact, you rarely hear Holden, although recently it's been getting a lot of play on this board. I personally know one, mid-20s, was a top swimmer at Penn State, went to the Olympic trials in 2000, but not all the way to the Olympics. Very neat guy.

anyhow, Roman - is well, Roman, definitely would not suit with a Hispanic name I don't think.

here are some that I think would fit your last name and your Hispanic origin, although they aren't Hispanic names.

How about a Christmas name - Christopher, Christian or Nicholas

Also these: colin, Colton, Derek, Donovan, Eric, Garrett, Joshua, Jared or Jarrett, Kyler, Marcus, Preston, Parker, Spencer, Tanner, Trevor.

good luck.
