Help!!! Our baby girl is due tomorrow and we haven't settled on a name yet. My husband thew a surprise at me two days ago as he announced that he wanted to pass his middle name on to her, which is Allen. He would like to spell it as Allyn. He even said that I could choose the first name if we went with his middle name. However, in my opinion, it doesn't flow with my #1 first name choice, which is Eliana (nn Ellie). Help!!! Please send your thoughts.

I am truly very sad at the thought of giving up Eliana. Our older daughter is Alexandra and I think Alex and Ellie would be so cute together. we have two other names we are tossing around at this time, but they don't grab me. Here's our list:

Eliana Allyn
Paige Allyn
Kate Allyn

I know Paige and Kate go better with Allyn, but I just don't want to see Eliana go. Help!

I think it fits fine with Eliana. Flow doesn't matter as much to me when it is a family name. You have a golden chance to use your favorite name - take it!!!
Ellie and Alex are adorable together!
Good Luck!

I love Eliana! Alexandra and Eliana look and sound real good together. It's such a beautiful name and not as common as the other two, although Paige and Kate go much better with the middle name. Best wishes with the name and the upcoming birth of your second daughter.

I don't think there's anything wrong w/ Eliana Allyn (except that I don't like the mn for a girl, however it's spelled) & that they flow together just fine. Stick w/ the fn you love & you won't regret it. If you choose another fn that flows better you'll always regret it!

I say go with Eliana Allyn. I knew a woman whose name was Allyn. But she pronounced it Ah-Lynn.

So I have been saying Eliana Ah-Lynn and I like the way it sounds together!

I like Eliana. What is your husband's first name? Is there a feminine form of that you could use as her middle name instead? My friend named her baby after her husband. His middle name is Allen, and they used Allyn for her. Her name is Mickelle Allyn. Good luck,

Oh, Eliana Allyn is fine! Flow is not as important as using a meaningful/ family name, IMO. Yes, Paige or Kate sound better, but are nowhere near as lovely as Eliana. They both sound kind of plain next to Alexandra, to be honest. Eliana Allyn, nn Ellie is just great!

Thanks so much for your thoughts. My husband's first name is Mark~ so I'm not aware of any feminine version... though I jokingly suggested taking off the K and making it a Y to create Mary!

Appreciate your feedback.

I'd stick with Eliana, love it.

How about Alena for a middle or first name for Allen?
