Baby girl due in 12 days and no name!

I am having such a hard time with the name of this baby. DS and DH really want her name to be Allie. I like Allie, but I would like it to be short for something so she will have more options later. We can't seem to agree on anything for a formal name. DH likes Alexandra, but DS is NIcholas and there is the unpleasant Russion hisory association (DS says this is silly). I like Alaina, but DH had a cousin named Alayna. I'm not crazy about Allison or Alice and there are 4 Alyssa's at daycare. Anyone have anysuggestions? TIA!

Thanks for the great suggestions! I think I'll take some of the suggestions and put together a poll. Hopefully we will have a name before she decides to make an appearance. :)

Hi. Don't blame you on the Nicholas & Alexandra thing. It jumped out at me immediately.

I didn't have time to read the other posts, so sorry for repeats.

1. Alessandra- softens the connection a bit, and there are still more variants dh could perhaps stomach better than a whole new al- name. Alexi, Alexanne, Alexa, Alexia, and on and on
2. Allora, Allura- So lovely.
3. Alannah- similar to your Alaina
4. Alarice, Alethea
5. Alisanne- I love this name. An elegant Alice Ann, a graceful turn on Allison
6. Ally as her given name with a double name-mn to stiffen it- Ally Elizabeth (Ally Beth), Ally Catherine and/or Ally Kate, Ally Rae, Ally Pearl, Ally Mae, Ally Rose, etc.
7. A similar sounding name (Callie, Sally) Callista, Calandra, Sarah ---- Addy- Adelaide, Adele, Adelia, Adanna, etc.

Let us know what you decide! Best wishes, Ginger

I can think of two off-beat names for which Allie would be an obvious choice for a nickname. Bear in mind these people actually lived in Alaska, so the names are more flower-child than traditional!

I've heard of a couple that named their daughter Denali Rose. They poached the name from their in-laws, who had planned to name their OWN baby girl Alaska Rose. The in-laws had to choose another name (and were a little miffed about it too)!

Hope that helps!
