I personally like the name Zank. However I think that in that once he gets to the school age it could put him a place for ridicule. It rhymes with enough negative words that he could have problems. However if you feel strongly about the name and love it very much, stick with it. If you are keeping it just because it is what you picked originally maybe give it some thought. Possible other names that mean a lot to you could serve you better.
I would go with what is in your heart. However, I personally dont care for Zank. I do like Hank though, but Zank kind of reminds me of 'skank', and Im not trying to be mean. Maybe Gabriel Zank
Well, followers of the Grateful Dead also did a lot of drugs, so the chances of too many people remembering his vow to name a son "Zank" are pretty slim. I personally think it sounds made up, and that is it. I can't get into it as a name at all, excpet perhaps in a science fiction story.
Athena I like, though remember it doesn't simply "mean" goddess of war and wisdom...Athena WAS a Greek goddess. ;-)
You need to name your baby whatever you two parents agree on. Lots of people, including my parents, don't like the name we gave our second son... and most of the names on our list for this 3rd boy due in 9 weeks, but its not their child. They will grow to love the baby no matter what his/her name is, as did my parents, and they will get used to the name. They don't have to like it. However, as a previous post said, if you are just hanging on to the name because he told everyone about it, and not because you love the name, then you may want to reconsider. I think its a fine name, and will fit in with today's trend of more unique names... even if some think it sounds made up. Also, the baby won't be one of multiple children with the same name, which is a good thing. Good Luck!!
Girl name is fine. But you have a challenging last name to begin with--lots of teasy potential. You can't change that and whatever teasing happens happens, but adding a difficult first name just makes it worse. When I say "Zank Heiny" out loud I can't think of anything but "Rank Heiny"--with rank being the slang for gross and smelly. So if I'm completely honest, I think it's awful.
Pretty much agreeing with you all the way... althoughhhh... I guess we could say Athena IS a Greek goddess. ;)
Also, to the OP- I like the name Athena and I like the idea of honoring both of your mothers but yet don't think Rosemary makes the best match with Athena. And I can't wrap my brain around the idea of naming a child Zank. I prefer Gabriel Zank, as mentioned by another poster.

Go with your heart.

I love Athena Rosemary.
