I would first like to thank you all for your suggestions and advice. As most of you know I having a terrible time finding a girl name that I love. At first I wanted the first name to have family ties, now I think the middle name will do just fine. I would like some more suggestions. . . could you help?
I have some rules:
1) Must sound good with Preston (ds)
2) Must sound good with Smith (surname)
3) Can't be a popular name (love Ava, but that is OUT :(
Popular meaning not in the top 50
4) I like classic sophisticated sounding names.
5) Middle name options- Avery, Leslie, Ann, Mae, Jane, and Kathryn
6) Nothing too trendy . . . even though I love Aidan, Ava, etc.
7) Oh yeah, it can't start or end with a -s (I love Annalise, but it does not sound good)
8) Can't end in -th sound (I love Elizabeth, but Elizabeth Smith is a mouth full)
Thanks again for your help~
Leslie

Thanks for the sugestions! Out of the names so far, I like Eliza and Delaney. I also thought of Lily Ann today. WDYT? Would Lily follow her into adulthood? If I went with this I would call her Lily Ann. I just don't know!!! Naming girls is so hard :( Thanks again!!

If you're worried about Lily aging well and plan to call her "Lily Ann" anyway, it follows that simply naming her Lillian/Lilian to begin with would make the most sense. It's pretty much the same name(s), but in a completely traditional, familiar, non-cutesy adult package. Lillian could just as easily be an infant or a grown woman, and Lily is still an obvious nn if you want to use it. Win win.

Funny, I think naming boys is hard, but there are a hundred girl names that I love. I live in fear of having all little boys because I have no idea what I would name more than one of them AND it would mean I wouldn't get to use my girl names and would have to start naming cats names like Ruby Anastasia and Naomi Keziah.
But on the real topic at hand:
I love the name Lily, and I don't think it has a little girl connotation at all.
I don't really like the combination Lily Ann as much. Even though Ann is a family name, it still feels like a throw away middle name to me, so I would vote Lily Kathryn, instead.
I really love the name Preston .. good name choice!
