Got this birth announcement last night....brief history. Parents are older (Mom is early 40s) and went though infertility treatments to have kids. Upper end of the income scale. The mom then irked the crap out of me by returning to work 60+ hours a week

That's HILARIOUS!! Made my day!! Sorry for poor lil' taiter tot though. That kid has a few years of serious teasing in front of him. Maybe Rage will stick up for him!

I am just dying laughing here. Taiter!!! LOL!!!!

What comes to mind is the standup routine by Ron White - one of the Blue Collar Comedy guys with Jeff Foxworthy. I don't know if you've seen it, but he does this thing where his nickname is Taiter Salad and his son is Taiter Tot.

What makes it that much funnier is from how you have described your acquaintances, they do not seem like the Blue Collar Comedy type - LOL - and knowing that their kids' name reminds someone of it would probably kill them. LOL.

But then they have to expect odd reactions when you name your kids Rage and Taiter.

I'm having a really yucky day today so I thank you for that laugh. I'm still wiping the tears of laughter from my eyes.

I'm so happy to see I'm not the only one who knows that Ron White routine. It was the first thing that came to my mind as well when I say the name Taiter Tot.

Well, all I can say is good luck to those poor kids. Two strange names and a nn that has nothing to do with the formal name. It's good that they'll all have each other to stick up for one another on the playground. I hope the same poor teacher does get every kid in that family in her classes. By the third kid she'll want to slap mom and dad at Parent Teacher conference.

Taiter! The first thing I thought was Tater Tot! They must have run it by a few people who all warned them about Tater Tot, but they decided that they know best and that a warning would do the trick. Unbelievable.

Too funny. Poor kids, though. Don't these people have anyone in their lives that would be honest enough to say to them, "You've got to be kidding me, have you thought about what you're doing to your kids!" Maybe they're surrounded by people that name kids the same weird things. Lisa

OH MY WORD! I am SO glad I popped in here today! I right away thought of the Blue Collar Comedy thing too ~ and the irony of it all.

Thank you for the laugh, was needing that!

Actually, another mutual friend summed it up perfectly.

They wanted a baby and did fertility treatments because they felt entitled to one. However, actually RAISING the children is left to hired help. After all, she wants to make partner, and she is not going to allow for "speedbumps". (Her reference to her children, not mine) to slow her down.

This is the same reason that they named their kids ridiculous names. They feel entitled to...look at some of the celebrities, and how cavalierly they name their children. (Reign Beau, Apple, Pilot Inspektor, Denim, etc) They really believe

OH MY GOODNESS!! I couldn't believe what I was reading. What the hell were they thinking? Evidently the drugs she had in delivery caused that???? As I was reading it I thought, well I could get over Rage, not horrible, but Taitor, why would you do that to a poor little boy? That kid had better be pretty strong and confident to pull off that name. I also have to say about the girl and her name. I totally agree. I don't know how many people asked us when we named our daughter Brielle what we were going to call her. I was like did you hear me??? BRIELLE. I think nns are only good when they arise naturally~ for example older sibs can't say the name or whatever. Don't name your child something with the intent of already calling them something else.
